Skeptic
I woke up with this song in my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs51Fo9fuGM It's a decent song, but I wish I could identify with all of it. Here's the lyrics: I found God On the corner of First and Amistad Where the west Was all but won All alone Smoking his last cigarette I said, "Where you been?" He said, "Ask anything". Where were you When everything was falling apart? All my days Were spent by the telephone It never rang And all I needed was a call That never came To the corner of First and Amistad Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Surrounded, surrounded Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late You found me, you found me In the end Everyone ends up alone Losing her The only one who's ever known Who I am Who I'm not, who I wanna be No way to know How long she will be next to me Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Surrounded, surrounded Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late You found me, you found me Early morning The city breaks I've been callin' For years and years and years and years And you never left me no messages You never send me no letters You got some kinda nerve Taking all I want Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Where were you? Where were you? Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Surrounded, surrounded Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late You found me, you found me Why'd you have to wait? To find me, to find me The thought of confronting god is an interesting one. I doubt I'd get an answer even then, because he doesn't exist, but it's still an interesting idea. Every time I listen to this song, I think, "Well, I'm glad you were found, you lucky bastard. How about putting in a good word for me? Oh, wait...it's just a delusion!" I guess I'm glad this guy was patient enough to stick it out. I'm not that patient. God never showed up, so I said, "Fuck god, I'll do it myself. The fucker's never been of much use to me anyway." But the more I think about this song, the more I wonder, Was he found by someone else other than god? Because god doesn't seem to be giving him many answers, here, and it's not like he specifies as to who found him. I guess he leaves that up to interpretation. I think Tyler Durden said it best in the movie Fight Club when he said, "Fuck damnation, man! Fuck redemption! We are God's unwanted children? So be it!" Very true, Mr. Durden. Wise words. So yeah, waking up earlier than I should have with these thoughts is pretty interesting. Heh. I wonder how this'll affect the rest of my day. Should be interesting. PitterPatter
To the OP, yeah I've had the same feelings about that song. It is a nice sounding song. But the whole God thing sours it. And what, did he expect his imaginary friend to be on time? With songs like this I tend to over think and start to upset myself, so I just try to enjoy the pretty sound and ignore the words. haha. I've found that I'm more offended by references to God than angels though. Is that weird?
