Jim Writes:

My name is Jim Neugent. I wrote to ABC (on-line) concerning a program called 'THE PRACTICE.' In last nights episode, one of the lawyer's mothers decided she is gay and wanted her son to go to court and help her get a marriage license so she could marry her 'partner.' I sent the following letter to ABC yesterday and really did not expect a reply, but I did get one.

My original message

was:

ABC is obsessed with the subject of homosexuality. I will no longer watch any of your attempts to convince the world that homosexuality is OK. ' THE PRACTICE' can be a fairly good show, but last night's program was so typical of your agenda. You picked the 'dufus' of the office to be the one who was against the idea of his mother being gay, and made him look like a whiner because he had convictions. This type of mentality calls people like me a 'gay basher..'

Read the first chapter of Romans (that's in the Bible); and see what the apostle Paul had to say about it..... He, God and Jesus were all 'gay bashers'. What if she'd fallen in love with her cocker spaniel? Is that an alternative life style? (By the way, the Bible speaks against that, too.)

Here is ABC's reply from the ABC on-line webmaster:

How about getting your nose out of the Bible (which is ONLY a book of stories compiled by MANY different writers hundreds of years ago) and read the declaration of independence (what our nation is built on), where it says 'All Men are Created equal,' and try treating them that way for a change!

Or better yet, try thinking for yourself and stop using an archaic book of stories as your lame crutch for your existence. You are in the minority in this country, and your boycott will not affect us at ABC or our freedom of

statement..

Jim Neugent's second response to ABC:

Thanks for your reply. From your harsh reply, evidently I hit a nerve. I will share it with all with whom I come in contact. Hopefully, the Arkansas Democrat Newspaper will include it in one of their columns and I will be praying for you.

Note: Wouldn't Satan just love it if people stopped using the Bible for a crutch?

Please resend this to everyone in your mailbox.

I wonder if the person from ABC considered how many people would eventually read this e-mail!

Please, if you are a Christian, pass this on to others so they may be aware.

WE NEED TO SAVE WHAT WE HAVE LEFT OF THIS COUNTRY!

Why can't these people learn to accept people for who they are, instead of trying to

dictate how they want certain people to live, that really has no effect on them.

Oh, I forgot their Fundys.

And you don't "decide" or choose to become gay, they will never get that point, either.

Love the response from the ABC webmaster.

I found this hard to believe to be true so I googled it.

This website comments on junk email chains:

http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/rudeabc.html

Apparently this goes back to 2002 and the ABC response was found to be a lone employee who, sadly, was later fired.

When you get the email about a starving kid in Nigeria whose dad wants to make me rich, can you send it to me? I lost my Hard Drive a few years ago and need to send him some seed money so that I can access my dead great great great uncle's inactive bank account that he had during Confederation. The interest alone is worth millions. Apparently, and I'm not sure how this works, but the dude in Nigeria is an agent for international bank that uncovers lost money.

I hope it comes in soon as I need a new car and I'm thinking a red Ferrari would be nice.

Much appreciated!

Sure thing! I think it's stored on my 10-year old computer that's in my closet.

I would have been much more harsh than the ABC employee. It's a shame that companies have to kiss up to assholes like Jim Neugent.

I think it's because they can't hate Black people anymore.

And of course, ABC apologized. :49:

What a shame. I thought ABC had done an admirable thing in telling off a religious bigot, so it was disheartening to learn that the well-deserved response to the bigot's first message came only from an employee who was subsequently fired.

People like Jim-boy there drove me nuts even when I WAS a christian - now it's even worse. Too bad the employee got fired over it - I guess I could see a slap on the wrist of some kind, but having to cow down to some bigotted viewer is just plain old sad IMO.

KABOOM! That nailed it. :D

It's horrible that companies have to pander to every little "offense" that's out there. I think it's stupid that television and movies and books have to warn everybody to "not attempt this at home" or "any similarities to persons living or dead" or whatever there's any chance of them getting sued for.

ABC should have been able to pat their employee on the back and give a big "Fuck you!" to Jimmy Homophobe Neugent.
