Goodbye Jesus

Hurricane Katrina

Well, once again a major natural disaster is taking place. One that will cost lives and LOTS of money when it's all over.

Several of you may recall back in December, the incident of the Tsunami and all of the people deeply impacted by that horrifying event.

The fundies blamed the native peoples non-christian ways for the disaster (without evidence...but since when did they need that?).

NOW crisis is unfolding in fundie-land's backyard (or through the porch door as the case may be).

Who or what will take the blame? Nevermind that this could be considered a fair turn by the wheel of karma for the fingerpointing done regarding the Tsunami....oh no no no. A proper scapegoat shall be found of course.

So who or what shall it be?

Mardi Gras? We know fundies abhorr fun. Shall the annual festivity bear the brunt of the responsibility for god's rage?

Gay tolerance? Why not? It got the blame for 9/11.

Abortion? Fetuses are precious. Ten or fifteen people could be blown to bits, as longs as no fetus suffers harm.

What's your guess?

I keep liking to think there is a Pantheist Deity that is actually after the Fundamentist Christianity themselves for the kind of lusting and raping of their ways as consumerism on others and with the Biosphere Earth.

But this Justice is really not that noticed to be really happening. Since the Fundamentist Christianity can still give their blames over this. Not right! So it could just be the normal actions of Mother Earth.:shrug:

What happened to all those prayers I wonder. Guess none of them had enough faith to make the huricane vanish.

They'll definitely blame it on the gays. They blame every natural disaster on those damn homosexuals!

/me loves being a damn homosexual.

I believe it's the fault of Mother Nature.

It's weather.

Isn't God in charge of Mother Nature?

We never have hurricanes or tsunamis in Wisconsin. Heck in this neck of the woods we seldom even get tornados and you can hide from them in the basement, because tornados don't try to drown you. This certainly goes to proves that God loves us best!

Oh....., right.

Okay...let's blame Him instead. Good point, Chef.

That's the trouble with being the head guy -- the buck stops there.

I think those prayers were caught in the counter-clockwise swirl along with the other debris.

I'm sure we'll hear it shortly...

"We thank Jesus that are prayers were answered that the storm swerved a bit from New Orleans. Praise Jesus!"

Of course....just means the the poor saps elsewhere got hammered more instead.

I'm pretty sure Fred Phelps will blame it on the homosexuals.

"The winds blow because they suck, Brothers!"

New Orleans is a naughty place, besides. Still, if God were aiming for gays, surely he knows they are in Key West and San Franscisco. Both places are vulnerable; an earthquake here, a hurricane there. An angry god's work is never done!

If you must personify it, call it Mother Nature.

Soooooo.

When bad things happen to "them", it's a righteous act of god upon a sinful people.

When bad shit happens to the "us" in the good ol' USA, it's an act of mother nature.

Makes perfect sense.

So great we can have it both ways!

Bah. Silly to blame god. Especially if you dont believe in one. Might as well take your anger out on Santa (the fat bastard!). :vent:

Someone's gotta water the flowers... and blow trees down. Not to mention all the houses ripped to shreds. But it's part of the wacky balance of nature. So I wouldn't blame god much. I'd just run like hell when it's about to balance my ass. :phew:

I also felt the Tsunami was mother nature---- but I hear what you're saying. After the Tsunami I heard all the judgmental comments that were said.

After actually having my feet on the ground over there where many died .........the very thought of those comments anger me.

Punishment by natural disaster would be too easily attributed to other causes to be an effective punishment. As a teacher and a parent, I've learned that punishment must be clearly seen as a logical consequence of one's behavior to be truly effective. This is why I stopped hiring thugs to beat up my little miscreants in the hall. It was too easily mistaken for bad luck. Now I rub their noses in dog crap the moment they offend me. :wicked:

As God, I would have to go with the unambiguous punishment. I'm thinking maybe a big-ass thumb coming down from the sky and pushing one into the earth like a tent stake or popping one's head like a grape. I don't know about you, but I'd straighten up rather quickly.

Pat Robertson has claimed before to be able to alter a hurricane's path. And certainly he has no lost love for New Orleans.

He did miss a bit, but it can't be all that easy to steer a giant gulf storm from North Carolina. Besides, he managed to whack Biloxi and its heathen-attracting casinos.

What in the hells gave people the idea that God was so petty and small as to fight one man's battles for them?

Oh, right. Nevermind.
