Robertson advocates 'stoning'

for UFO enthusiasts

by Skipp Porteous

FREEDOM WRITER PRESS RELEASE

Great Barrington, MA -- In a recent pronouncement, television evangelist and head of the Christian Coalition, Pat Robertson, advocated death by stoning for UFO enthusiasts.

Freedom Writer magazine, in its July/August issue, mailed today, disclosed Robertson's statement. Freedom Writer is published by the Institute for First Amendment Studies, a group that monitors the right.

Robertson used the news of the July 4th Mars landing to promote his extreme beliefs. A segment on the July 8, 1997 broadcast of The 700 Club featured news of the Mars Pathfinder mission. Employing the historical event as a starting point, the program delved into the possibility of the existence of UFOs and space aliens.

While Robertson viewed the space program with suspicion, on a more serious note, he launched into a diatribe against those who entertain the existence of space aliens and UFOs. He said, in a rambling discourse, that if such things exist, they are simply demons trying to lead people away from Christ.

According to Robertson, the threat is so serious that people who believe in space aliens should be put to death by stoning -- according to "God's word."

"The Bible says the Earth belongs to man, but the heavens belong to the Lord," Robertson said.

"He has given us the Earth. He also warned, way back when Moses was writing down not only what is the Ten Commandments, but Deuteronomy, which is almost the Second Law.

"Here is what he said to the children of Israel about this whole matter:

"'If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the Lord your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the Lord your God, in transgressing His covenant, who has gone and served other gods and worshipped them, either the sun or moon or any of the hosts of heaven which I have not commanded you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and stone to death that man or woman with stones.'" (Deuteronomy 17:2-5, NKJV)

"Now, that's what Moses said to the children of Israel about those who worship the sun and the moon and the hosts of heaven, because these things, at best, are lifeless nothings, or, if they are intelligent, they're demonic. And, yes, there is a host of heaven. There are angels and there are fallen angels. There is no question about it."

"Can a demon appear as a slanty-eyed, funny-looking creature? Of course he can, or it can. Of course they can deceive people. And if they can lead somebody away from the true God, or away from Jesus Christ, anyway it happens, it doesn't matter, you will lose your salvation. It doesn't matter how they get you. The question is, did they get you, and under what guise?

"This is man in rebellion against God, who refuses to take God's Law. And God says, 'My covenant says you won't do this. And if I find anybody in Israel,'-- "which is his pure nation" -- 'If I find anybody in Israel that's doing this sort of thing, then I want you to take him out and dispose of him."

"It's a clear violation of God's word."

Skipp Porteous, Freedom Writer publisher, commented: "As the founder and chairman of the Christian Coalition -- a group dedicated to becoming the most powerful political force in America -- Robertson's extreme ideas need to be taken seriously, for they not only negate pluralism, but condemn to death those who dare to believe differently."

Minister of hate to "hunt down" Swedish king

The fanatical American Baptist minister, Fred Phelps, is on his way to Sweden.

"We'll hunt down your king," he said ominously to Expressen. "It doesn't make any difference where he tries to hide."

Phelps' hatred of the royal family and all things Swedish is linked directly to his equally virulent hatred of homosexuals. He praises homophobic crimes, including murder. When controversial Swedish minister, Åke Green, was convicted of inciting hatred of homosexuals following an anti-gay sermon, Phelps saw red and turned his attention to Sweden.

"You're doomed to spend eternity in hell," he continued. "All you Swedes and your Swedish king and his family."

The minister and twenty members of his congregation from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, are planning to come to Sweden at the beginning of September. They are bringing plenty of placards in order to spread their message that Sweden is the cradle of all evil and that the king rules a nation of sodomites.

King Carl Gustaf is their primary target.

"Your king represents your doomed country and we'll find him wherever he may be."

Phelps claims that Sweden deserved to suffer in the Boxing Day tsunami catastrophe in southern Asia and has designed a monument to 'celebrate' the deaths of over 500 Swedes in Thailand.

The royal household regards the proposed visit as a serious risk and has increased security around the king and the royal family.

"We'll be informing Säpo of this," said royal spokeswoman, Ann-Christine Jernberg.

So, should Sweden laugh, cry or take Fred Phelps seriously? Expressen columnist, Lars Lindström, is in no doubt that this is no joke.

"If he were a cartoon character, I'd laugh. But now I just feel ill. Minister Fred Phelps has such extreme views that even the Christian far right in the USA feel a bit queasy."

Lindström argues that it isn't just singled out Sweden that's exercised about Phelps, but that he attracts a lot of attention in his home country.

"Phelps has eleven lawyers fighting for his constitutional right to cast the objects of his hatred to the fires of hell. To dismiss him as a village idiot is to take the easy way out."

"With friends like Fred Phelps, Åke Green doesn't need a single enemy," concludes Lindström.

Got to admit it, ol' Freddie boy really goes out of his way to make friends for America, doesn't he?

Wow. Did Robertson have like a stroke, get knocked up side the head by the offering tray, or is old age just making him bonkers?

I know his always been a fundy loony, but he has been the King fundy loony man lately. He has really just slipped the sanity lid off his head and is letting the stupidity fly.

(To paraphrase the words of Dennis Miller) Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps, "have chosen to steer INTO the 'crazy' skid", thus avoiding any HOPE of a return to sanity.

If the saying "Only the good die young" is true, then Pat and Freddie will be with us until "Jee-bus" returns! Fuck!

Where's an Islamic jihad suicide bomber when you really need one?

(This Part For Now ...) ... Hypocrasy! So if God doesn't prove himself. How does one decern what isn't deceiving them? The real Deception is Christianity! Wake-Up Christianity! Faith = Deception! :twitch:

Someone is an attention-whore.

And unless you are four-legged, furry, and cute......which Pat isn't.....you can't get away with that.

Well, that answers my long-standing question of how religious extremists would react to extra terrestrials. They're demons!

According to Robertson, the threat is so serious that people who believe in space aliens should be put to death by stoning -- according to "God's word."

Oh my fucking god! How can people not see that this man is a fucking maniacal idiot!? Why is this not fucking obvious!? Why!?

Because they're CHRISTIANS and they're doing these things FOR GAAAWD AND JEEEZUS!

...okay, that was cliché of me. I really don't know. They just give these people too fucking wide of a berth just because they're hate-preachers. I don't try to understand, I just shake my head.

I tell you what, my mom, who is as minimally Christian as you can get, thinks that Pat Robertson is slipping into senile dementia, either that or he's a closet drinker, and shouldn't be taken any more seriously than your friendly neighborhood wino.

I must say, I agree with her. Pat Robertson is a nutcase, a lunatic, and should be locked up for his own good as well as the good of society. However, since his insanity is put forth under the banner of "religious speech", it's protected.

Fred Phelps? I am hoping that his little group tries to assassinate the Swedish royal family, and instead is summarily executed. Ohhh, I want to see it on the evening news if THAT happens.

Where does freakin' Fred get the money to traipse about spreading his hate? Is there that much dough in the hate business? He was here in Tennessee this week to demonstrate at some soldiers' funerals. Seems they were killed by Gawd for fighting for a gay-loving nation.

Agreed Khan. I second this notion.

So what if one of Robertson's mindless sheep actually tries to follow his teachings?

I am more worried about one of Phelp's followers trying to axe the King of Sweden. Some of Phelps buddy boys have followed his commands and I am afraid they might ry this.

At least Robertson's people apparently seem to be backlashing against his actions.

Even my fundy Grandmother said that what Robertson is doing is not of the Lhord.

But I highly think that it is time to put an end to this nonsense.

Remember when I said that Pat Robertson was a con-artist, I take that back. This guy is just as nutty as Phelps. As for how Phelps and his ilk get their money is probably from this scam where they egg a passer-by to the point that they try to assult them, take a picture, and sue their asses off.

Robertson's case might be the advanced stages of Religous Addiction. But I really worry about some of his followers and how seriously they take this shit.

"Can a demon appear as a slanty-eyed, funny-looking creature?..."

I found this quote very telling - it seems likely that Phelps is confusiong Asians with Aliens, or perhaps he thinks they're both demonic and foreign. Something about that quote just let's it slip how he thinks about this, which I always kind of knew, because that's how he thinks about everything but that sentence is like an ice cream scooper in someone's utensil drawer - you know they like ice cream even without checking the freezer.

When oh when are we going to see the "reverend" Phelps picket outside Macy's for selling garments made of mixed fabrics? Or outside Skipper's for selling shellfish? How about public stonings of divorced people? Come on, Freddy, you're getting BORING!
