Goodbye Jesus

Hugging Is A Sin

The Russian pentecostals that we know don't ever allow hugging between the opposite sexes, outside of families. I've known a few families in this church for several years, play with the kids, and listen to their heartaches and joys. One of the mom's hugged me once, but only after announcing to the room that she was going to "hug her brother". I've seen the girls in bikinis and been in a speedo myself. But hugs? Nope. One of the fathers kissed me on the lips once, which he explained was a Russian thing to do with loved friends. Even a group-hug made one girl really nervous.

I've learned to deal with it, but it still annoys me.

Super lame, they should all commit mass suicide immediately.

I enjoy sex WAY too much to settle for some Christian side hug...

Hmmm.... :)

Making "purity" cool is a tough sell.

No shit, and they are doing an hilarious job of it :)

Wow, I really don't get it - can't do a real hug with someone, but sirens, gun shots and trying to dress like a gangster is okay....um, ya.....

It's along the same lines as the whole "you can watch Gladiator but you can't watch porn" take that most Conservative Christians have. With Liberals Christians it's the reverse.

This, then, is surely the work of the devil:

Besides who says you can't lust after a litte side-boob? Don't think you're safe from satan just because you aren't hugging from the front! :lmao:

Sadly, this is still more touching than is allowed in some public schools these days. There is a whole movement, secular as well as religious, that has taken Zero Tolerance into new levels of stupidity. No playing tag, no hugging, no butter knives at lunch....while teaching Zero Ability to Make Decisions for Themselves, which is needed to be come fully functional adults. But maybe that is just an old fashioned idea in the ever growing Nanny State we live in.

Wow...all that from a stupid fake-gangsta video....LOL

This is what school-shootings in middle class White communities will do to you.

That video was touching. Free hugs. I can't even begin to tell you how much I could use one. Good for whoever can do that.

Yeah, in our culture touch is very restricted and I think we are Puritans practically because of this. I mean in your day to day interaction think about how many times you hug someone and establish touch with that person or how many times you have any touch other than a handshake or something. I think it's sad that some people go without hugs or any physical contact really.... All I know is that if I could I would give you a hug man, just to cheer you up. Touch is absolutely crucial to psychological well being -not just for children- and most people don't want to admit it. Finally, I agree with your sentiments regarding the video :)

I think the sin in our society is that we don't hug enough, and instead neglect people on a physical level.

Ha ha, you are channeling Ignatius J. Reilly.

"I have sought escape in the Prytania (theater) on more than one occasion, pulled by the attractions of some technicolored horrors, filmed abortions that were offenses against any criteria of taste and decency, reels and reels of perversion and blasphemy that stunned my disbelieving eyes, that shocked my virginal mind, and sealed my valve."

*squeeeees* I now have an forum-based lit-crush on Vigile for quoting A Confederacy of Dunces. And yes, banning "front hugs" is even more psycho than the fundie school I went to. Creepy.

By the looks of what's on YouTube, it appears to be a movement. Grab a sign and head to your nearest streetcorner or pedestrian mall... (I think we need a hug emoticon. This was the best I could find.) :3some:

I know the band, Sick Puppies, really got into the Free Hugs movement. It started gaining momentum because the Free Hugs guy was arrested for loitering or something. It's sad when you can't give out a free hug.

This is what happened to my nephew Justin and some of his friends at a mall here:

"Ok, so we went to the mall and were walking around with "Free Hugs" signs and giving people free hugs. People loved it and it made us feel good. So we go into Aeropostale, and before we give out any hugs, the manager comes out and tells us it's soliciting and we're not allowed to do that and to get out. Then they told ...the mall cops and said if they caught us, we'd be thrown out of the mall..."
