I just bought a dozen puppies,

I own them, they are mine,

They're really cute, and young to boot,

and happy all the time.

But most of them are less grateful

than I think they ought to be,

Some run around, get into things,

some even disobey.

So I'm gonna put every last one

into a metal can,

sprinkle with gas, light a match,

Why? Because I can!

Not all at once, no, just a bit,

a little every day,

to see how long I can keep it going,

in the most harmful way.

I'm not God so it won't be forever,

but I'll do my best with this little gem,

I'm gonna burn my puppies,

Why?

Because I love them!

That's a keeper. Wow.

That is so good! One idea that led me to my atheism and away from christianity is the one you talk about here. The church I grew up in told us that God was loving and good and kind. He was so good that he sent his son to die on the cross for us. Then we were told we had to accept this gift from god (that we did not ask for) or die forever in a lake of fire and torture forever. Hmm I don't know why it took me so long to ask myself why this was a loving thing for god to do. I am glad I finally saw it though. I like the poem a lot! You should post it under the creative works section as well. :)
