I wanted to ask something. Something I posted about Comparative Religious studies by Evangelicals.

Not sure if your site contains any evangelicals on the board.

Ask in the Lions Den. That's where they are posting. Well, it depends on what you call fundamentalist.

There's End3. Unorthodox. Heretic. He was banned from one Christian site.

LNC. Orthodox protestant, but not really "fundamentalist". OEC perhaps, dualist certainly. William Lane Craig type arguments.

Kathleen. Former Atheist turned "God is Love" emotionally bound Christian. Doesn't really care to engage in heated disputes about irrelevant things like - reality.

OrdinaryClay is very similar to LNC, but his responsibilities have taken him away quite frequently and so he is getting harder and harder to engage.

There are rare people that post and run that might qualify as fundamentalists, but they don't stick around long enough to even learn where the stand.

Ordinary Clay is LNC lite; he doesn't want to discuss or debate, he wants to use this site to post Xtian propoganda. He's not getting harder to engage, he never wanted to engage in the first place. IMHO

Try LNC and OrdinaryClay. They are currently active Evangelicals, of the William Lane Craig persuasion.

Also, RaySkiDude. I'm not sure what group he hails from, but he's pretty Evangelical.

Shy you got it wrong....Im the comic relief around here :HaHa:

But seriously, I was a christian for 13yrs, became a deconvert, then went back to it all. Okay, I am an emotional christian, and I don't like to debate, I can't see the point personally. It doesnt mean I don't know stuff...

I don't quite know what sort of category I fit into though. I am a charismatic, non-denominational christian I guess. And I do live in reality :vent: ....

I was hoping you wouldn't read what I wrote. I don't know how to describe you - you are truly beyond description. I was trying to give enough information to let him know if the questions he was posing would be appropriate for you.

I don't get the vibe that you would qualify as "fundamentalist", but I'm not an expert on fundamentalism.

I know you know lots of stuff. You've been on this site and read the posts, so it's not like you're a babe in the woods. Babe maybe... But that's different.

So please don't accept my description as a label. It wasn't meant to pigeon-hole you, but to give the poster a flavor of your approach to religion. Charismatic is a good word for you. Fundamentalist - not so much IMHO.

So - what's the question here?

I am a former Catholic, but now a non-denominational evangelical. A former biochemist, analytical chemist, US government Radiation Specialist >> now a missions/shepherding pastor at my church.

I'm not out to chase anyone away but I don't care if I do. Christians make BS claims in public forum then they can bear the brunt of whatever reply is made to their BS claims.

I don't understand why Christians like to hang out here. Most pop in and tell us how we can't possibly have any morals, or how we never were True Christians in the first place. They like to explain to us how we previously followed the wrong interpretation of the Bible and then proceed to set us straight on what the book really says. They rehash the centuries old arguments for the existence of God (their God of course) and get frustrated when we shred their "logic" and explain our position on the matter. They regurgitate the same apologetic scripts that some of us used to teach. They often assume we don't know anything about the Bible, Christianity, history, or other religions. They are oblivious to the fact that this place has members who are former pastors, teachers, missionaries and Biblical scholars schooled in the original languages.

I certainly don't hang out at Christian websites to argue with them. I guess some see this place as their easy-access mission field. Some just have a quirky view of the religion they want to promote somewhere, and they can't do that on normal mainstream Christian forums. Why some of them stay, and stay, and stay is a mystery to me, but I wouldn't want to chase anyone off even if no productive dialog is possible. Some of the things they say are good reminders why we left the faith in the first place!

I'm betting that's a short-lived point of view. *chuckle*

The question is this Ray....

Please look at the image on this link... http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/MRO/multimedia/mro20091215.html ...and answer the following question.

"using only YEC geology, please tell us why there is a flood-created canyon on Mars?"

I am a former Catholic, but now a non-denominational evangelical. A former biochemist, analytical chemist, US government Radiation Specialist >> now a missions/shepherding pastor at my church.

As a trained scientist, I'm sure that you can give us a good answer.

Perhaps you could also explain why you're deliberately deceiving the members of your church by spinning YEC propaganda to them?

Hmmm.....?

BAA.
