Guest Valk0010
One person that has fascinated me even when I was a christian was a guy by the name of meher baba. I was first fascinated by him because of the fact that one of my hero's pete townshend followed the guy. But in the little reading and research I have done I have found him more fascinating. Whatta you think about him Meher Baba
nightflight
I know almost zero about Baba, but I swear I once saw a support group online for ex-devotees.

L.B.
Meher Baba was the inspiration for some work by Pete Townshend of The Who (a British rock band). Townshend was at one point writing songs like "Baba is Christ". The Who's song "Bargain" is allegedly about Meher Baba. Baba was a man who blended Hindu, Muslim and Sufi ideas into a mish-mash of transcendental rubbish like you often find in the new-age shops here in the US. Ultimately, he wanted a religion based on himself... that almost always happens. See, all of this cosmic revelation, hocus-pocus and bullshit is wonderful to think about and play around with UNTIL the "guru" announces that the latest (or greatest, or last/final or whatever) avatar is... himself. Stay away from crap like that. It's the stuff that the Wayne Dyers and Joel Osteens of this world are stuffed full of.
