Galien Posted July 14, 2011 Share Posted July 14, 2011 I enjoy this site. The vast majority of the people here have been kind and supportive, and have really been there for me when I needed them. I find it hard to negotiate the world of humans on a good day, but I have found understanding and kindness here. However there are a few assholes that make it difficult, but then I guess there always are. To the self centred cow who found it necessary to call me an ex-prostitute on an entirely unrelated matter - you may want to stop looking in the mirror and worrying about your age lines and address the holes in your character. To those who are ignorant, insolent and judgemental regarding mental health issues, shut the fuck up and so some serious research on depression and mental health in general instead of judging people for something they have little control over. Then get down on your self righteous knees and worship your god of science or self importance or status or whatever the fuck it is you worship this month, and thank it profusely that you don’t have to live with depression. While you are down there you could ask for some empathy. Works wonders. You do NOT know the hearts and minds of others any more than I do. You do NOT know what my eyes have seen or what I have to live with anymore than I know what you have to live with. You do NOT know what my motives and agendas might be better than I do. I have the hide to say I am a decent human being who finds very little kind and pure in the world that does NOT mean I am saying I am better than you, or that I have some kind of problem with narcissism. Neither does it give you the right to speak to me like I am shit under your feet. We are NOT Christians anymore, there is NOT one way to view the world that we all have to subscribe to. If I disagree with you, so fucking what, don’t look down your self righteous nose at me just because you can. To those who think they are something special because they follow the rules of debating, get over yourself. We all have an equal right to an opinion, whether it is worded in a way to get us “credibility” in the eyes of those who “count”, or just to put our oar in and have a say. Too many of you ignore those of us who won’t play by the “rules”. Thank you for being so dismissive, it’s like talking to a pastor all over again. Grow the fuck up and stop having to be right at the expense of the pain of others. That also works wonders, and your kids will love you for it. That is all. It really sucks when it does happen but most of the time it works best to suck it up and go on again. We're not Christians on here and we don't live by the command that we must love all people or else. We operate by the maxim that it is okay to politely ignore a person we can't tolerate. Of course, I didn't see the incident to which you are referring and am not much interested, either. Quite possibly I am speaking out of turn. If so, please ignore this post. Ban hammers aside, this site really seems to be unique in context with what is on the internet, such as the blogosphere to the sea of pornos and torrents (all good things I might add). Unfortunately, the anonymous nature of the internet can turn normal people into assholes. I usually just try to shrug them off. Our time is limited enough to argue with idiots, unless you are obsessively compulsive with regards to correcting people online... Leaving Christianity does not necessarily bring about a growth in manners and civility unfortunately. But it would be good if this was one of the guaranteed effects, eh?
