The mention of 'god's timing' has come up a few times so I thought I would share this song that I wrote many years ago. If you can't make it through it - I will understand!!

I was a song writer for my church at one time. I have written a whole scribbler of songs. I also took a lot of secular blues and turned them into gospel. You will want to throw up Ridigwoopsie.gif when you read this one called; ''God's Timing is Right on Time''. I always wrote the best songs when I was depressed and that was most of the time!!

Actually, someone put good music to this and I sang it a lot.

What a pile of crap!! I read it today and I am a bit embarassed.....I actually believed what I was writing - I really did!! Wendytwitch.gif

One time, I was so proud of these songs........

''God's Timing is Right on Time''

When the things that you plan, fall apart,

you walk around with a sad, broken heart,

All your hopes and your dreams, keep slipping away,

There doesn't seem to be one bright sunny day......

Well just lift up your hearts, look to the heavens above,

There is a strength that's filled with power and love,

Just reach out and call his name - He'll show you what to do...

He got a plan, and it's perfect for you.

The trials and tribulations, they'll keep goin' on,

They're part of life and they are what, will make you really strong,

Please remember, that we serve a lord - to him there's no defeat,

He'll change your weary world and put you, back on your feet.

So just lift up your hands, look to the heavens above,

There is a strength that's filled with power and love,

Just reach out and call his name - He'll show you what to do...

He got a plan, and it's perfect for you.

God's timing is right on time...... Cast all of your problems on the lord - he'll make then shine,

He will chase away the cloudy days, take away the pain,

If you lean on him and trust his 'word',

He will take away your pain.........

So just lift up your hearts.......blah, blah ,blah Wendybanghead.gif

I share your embarrassment, Margee!

I challenge you to write the songs

....that make the whole world sing,

the songs of love and special things.

Write the song that lies deep within you,

that has its special place in your soul.

Give us music that makes us dance and sing,

And gives us the spirit to take a chance.

Write some rock 'n' roll so we can move

Give us music that fills our hearts.

It's from you, it's for me/us

It's a worldwide symphony.

Well, that's a real fine place to start.

[Lyrics adapted from I Write the Songs]

Let your music take us beyond the embarrassment-- to a better place!

I feel that I am almost finally at the end of this deconverting.......very close.....to being very sure....about what my heart believes now. I posted this for the newcomers...the ones still struggling with all the issues of dealing with, 'there really is no such thing as the christian god's 'timing'.This post isn't really about writing silly christian songs - It's about how we all believed so much in 'god's perfect timing'.

Timing and 'waiting on god' back then (for me) took a lot of patience and faith. What was I to do during every setback in my life? Praying and wishing for god to give me direction was hopeful, yet very frustrating because some of the painful 'setbacks' were years long........ And now, I know why - the christian god wasn't there at all . I've had to work my way through embarrassment, anger and pain in the last year. I've had to re-grieve my whole life!

I guess one good thing about believing in 'god's timing' to 'fix your life' was we could grasp on to a little hope that something good was right around the corner. I suppose if I wasn't a beliver back then - I may have taken my own life, because some situations that I personally went through were much too painful for my liking!.

now I am mature and wise enough to see that I must continue (as I always have anyway) to do the footwork it takes to make one's life move along fairly smooth.....

I think I'd have loved that song when I was a Christian! But yes, when I think of stuff I said in my Christian days I feel really embarrassed too.

When I was beginning to lose my faith, I tried to comfort myself with "God's perfect timing" - that surely He must have a reason for letting me feel abandoned and not answering my prayers, and when the time was right, He would restore my faith. Weell, it's been over 15 years since I started losing my faith. God sure is taking His time! Back then - when I actually still believed and only had some doubts - it would have been so easy for any existing god to convince me. A warm fuzzy feeling as answer to my desperate prayers would have sufficed. Now I'm no longer willing to believe in the Christian God and can't see myself ever reconverting unless I become severely demented at some point.

Margee, You'll have to figure out how to put your "Letter to God" into poetic form and then set some music to it. I see the beginnings of an atheist hymnbook. :)

Wow, that song is ghastly! :D

But don't be ashamed of it; think of it as a reminder of how far you've come since then!

Why, Internet, why? Why would you mess up my post's formatting? What did I ever do to you?

I feel sad that your talent was wasted on Christianity sad.png But not anymore!! Look at it as an apprenticeship- you got all the shit out of the way, and now you can get onto the good stuff :)

God's timing always is exactly right for me. For example, I always get a boner when I'm horny. Now explain that, you atheists! And don't bring that science into play because that is a tool of satan!
