Prestissimo
I just accidentally clicked on one of those disgusting christian songs on youtube. I figured there are thousands of them!! On a musical level it's soft-porn, the lyrics are downright offending to the brain. My first responds was to report said video. If you try to report it as inappropriate it asks you to name a category. I laughed so hard when I read them.. Almost every option applies!!! Go read it yourself Too funny..

Never thought of it *quite* like that, but I will now! Great point! OK, now to check out YouTube....
kruszer
And sometimes the lyrics themselves are downright pornographic. "Extravagant" by Casting Crowns is one such song. I swear the lyrics are drenched with sexuality. If you didn't know it was a worship song you could easily mistake it for a sexy love-making song. Consider the lyrics and you've got a sex-scene with Christ. Even as a Christian this song unnerved me and always made me think naughty thoughts. Your love is extravagant Your friendship, it is intimate I feel I'm moving to the rhythm of Your grace Your fragrance is intoxicating in the secret place [where is your nose???] Cause Your love is extravagant Spread wide in the arms of Christ [uh is that allowed?...] there's a love that covers sin No greater love have I ever known; You considered me a friend Capture my heart again http://youtu.be/Eq7BlOArFH8

OpheliaGinger
South Park has made fun of the Christian pop/rock phenomenon where Cartmen takes ordinary love songs and replaced the words "baby" and "honey" with Jesus, so each song sounded like a love/eros song to Jesus.

I swear the lyrics are drenched with sexuality. (VIDEO) To be honest, I have wondered about this too. So much of worship music is very sexual in the words, the tone, the *rhythm*... I wonder if it's intentional, because sexuality is such a draw it makes a great tool for conversion and "experiences" with God. As a former worship leader I know how to create these "intimate" worship times. It's also interesting that worship leaders (esp. male worship leaders) have so much sexual appeal to many Christian women. I wonder if it's the music/rock star thing, or if spirituality is closely related to sexuality. Hmmmm.

mymistake
Does anybody else find "Shine, Jesus Shine" creepy in an erotic kind of way? Right in the middle when they sing eye-cum-2-yer-all-some-presents . . . it just feels wrong. Especially when shouted by a crowd of joyful Christians. http://www.lyricsfre...e_20032227.html (Oh wait, I better say "by Graham Kendrick" to appease our Congressional overlords.) I for one, welcome our new Congressional overlords. (the Simpsons, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0701087/ ) I liked the old interwebs.
Positivist
(LYRICS and MEDIA) OMG. This is too funny! (My mind is forever corrupted!) How about "Your Love Is Amazing"--the Vineyard Song by Brown and Doerksen. I was leading worship for a sex addicts group and the leader pulled this song from my repertoire because of these lyrics: Your love is surprising, I can feel it rising All the joy that's growing deep inside of me Apparently, too many attendees were being "triggered" by these images..............

mymistake
I had a really weird moment in college back when I was a fundie. I was with classmates and "Some Kind of Wonderful" came on. I loved the Christian version so I started singing along - kind of loud. Then all of a sudden it turned into a love song about a woman. And I got real quiet. And I was thinking to myself I'm not gay and why does Satan have to corrupt that beautiful hymn about Jesus. In retrospect that was pretty damn funny. I must have turned all sorts of colors.
