thomas
Most christians I know have a tradition for saying grace before having a meal. But where does that tradition come from? And why is saying grace only related to food? How about other physical needs? Why don't christians say grace before having sex? Dear Lord Thanks for this beautiful woman with such great attributes. Thanks that we are married and don't need to feel guilt, and thanks that I don't need Viagra. As your humble servants, we do pray that you will be with us and make it a joyful experience for both of us. Yes and by the way dear Lord - no children please. As you know, we are only doing it for fun. In your holy name Amen
Guest Warlock
I seem to remember reading that the Holy Spirit left the room during sex.
thomas
I seem to remember reading that the Holy Spirit left the room during sex. Yeah, Christians do have a problem with sex, although the say that it is created by god. Btw, welcome to the site.
Fly
At one time, I would say grace (Give thanks) for everything I found pleasurable . . . Including doing jammers on a binge, haha! (At least I thanked him for it!) Oh, the blasphemy! I'm such a sinner. /Shrug
pandora
Heh.... somehow it reminds me of how my husband and I would pray for forgiveness after going too far sexually while we were dating and still Christian. "Lord, help us make our bodies temples for the holy spirit. We're sorry for allowing the lust of the flesh to overtake us. Give us the strength to resist temptation. In jesus name..." Sometimes we would even pray at the start of the date to resist temptation. Of course, as we said this, he still showed the after effects of arousal (an erection) and my cheeks would be blushed. How strange and twisted it sounds now..,. but back then, it was the "natural" thing to do!
Dhampir
I heard someone say here a long time ago, that they used to pray before having sex.

spamandham
Interestingly, for most of history, anything that gave pleasure (and pain in some cases) was considered spiritual. This is why sex played such a large role in paganism. Goddamn puritans!
Brutal Brian
It would definetely put a whole new spin on "Amazing Grace" "How sweet it is..."
Asuryan
I never said grace, be it for sex or for food. Even if I was a devout catholic: it is not "traditional" to pray before (or after) your meals or even when you wake up or when you go to sleep, here. In Italy, you talk with god only: - at christmas - at easter time - at mass - when you want to be forgiven for your sins (and then be allowed to start sinning again with a clean conscience) - when you need something. Hey god, where's the money I need? Cough it up.
blueheron
I actually have read some xtian marriage books that recommend praying together before sex.
Antlerman
Praying before sex? Kind of kinky if you think about it. Like a threesome, or fivesome if you count all the peoples in the triune god-head. Not to mention all that holy ghost power, "praying" with tongues!
