Looking4Answers
I've been creating a series of posters for a few sci-fi/fantasy conventions I am attending this coming February. This is the second in my Doctor Who series based on the Doctor played by Matt Smith. This image was sketched and painted in Photoshop.
Astreja
That's a nice piece of work! Did you draw the jacket fabric by hand?
Ouroboros
1 hour, 20 minutes to the new Christmas special... L4A, I hope you have your TV on.
Looking4Answers
Astreja - I created the basic coat stripes in Photoshop as a tiling pattern. I then blocked off and applied the pattern to specific areas, rotating the pattern as needed. Then I used various tools, like the Warp tool, and Photoshop's Liquify tool, to get the stripes to bend. After getting the stripes all in place, I then painted over them to apply the shadows and highlights. If I had to paint, by hand, all of the little stripes, I would still be painting this one. Even so, my process still took hours of work. Ouroboros - Sadly, we don't have BBC America. We ordered it, but it has not yet been turned on. We'll be watching the Christmas special another day, I'm afraid.
