When I Ran Away (Song Lyrics)

These are the lyrics to a song I wrote named When I Ran Away. I wrote this out of my own heartache, but I feel it turned out nice. I'll eventually record this song, but for now it's just lyrics... I'm still developing the actual song part of it. Enjoy!

Verse 1

I am sorry.
I am guilty.
I am guilty for myself,
For the misery I felt.

Is it worth the price to pay,
To love the things my heart must hate?
Is it worth the loss of freedom,
If it makes me run from fate?

Chorus:

Deep inside this drowning lake,
Far within the shadow's wake,
Here I find a crying man, he speaks:

"So quickly we all fade away:
If in this truth I suffocate,
The only righteous act fulfilled
was when I ran away."

Verse 2

Why so sorry?
Why so guilty?
Is it guilt for hours lost,
Or the freedom that it cost?

Is it worth the price to pay,
To feel the pain just dissipate?
Is it worth the cost for freedom,
If freedom makes you run away?

Chorus

Deep inside this drowning lake,
Far within the shadow's wake,
Here I find a crying man, he speaks:

"So quickly we all fade away:
If in this truth I suffocate,
The only righteous act fulfilled
was when I ran away."

Bridge:

Can I even make it work,
Make the pieces stick together
If, in this mistake I lurk,
Where, then, is my ever after?

Somehow in the light I felt,
Transcendent feelings, velvet rain
Upon my flesh, but I digress,
It simply wasn't like I thought, unless
The truth grows bitter in the end.

Chorus/ending

Deep inside this drowning lake,
Far within the shadow's wake,
Here I find a crying man, he speaks:

"So quickly we all fade away:
If in this truth I suffocate,
The only righteous act fulfilled
was when I ran away.

But now I must move on from here,
To set aside my fear as I
Continue with this life of mine."

I write too and I like this. What sort of tune/chord changes do you have in mind?

It's an acoustic/rock sort of song. It has a lot of chord progressions in it (about 4 different ones through the song). I also use a lot of rather complex chords. (I'm also nastily bad with chord names, so I'm not going to use many of them.)

For an example, the first stanza goes:

7, 7, 5, x, x, x

5, 5, 4, x, x, x,

3, 3, 2, x, x, x

After that, it switches to:

5, 7, 7, 5, x, x

3, 5, 5, 4, x, x

Em7 (0, 2, 2, 0, 3, 0.)

3, 3, 2, 0, 3, 0.

After that, the Chorus is a bit more complicated. It would be harder to explain that with just chords.

I really do have most of the song done, in the way that it can be played all the way through, but I just want to be sure there aren't better chords I could use at some parts. I also need to get my guitar restrung and cleaned up before I can record with it, so there's that holding me back too.
