Goodbye Jesus

Things I Would Like To Say

so for all he EX-C on here who remembers this question: "What has god done for you today?"

I would like to respond by asking.. what has a rock done for you today? the most common answers I have heard are " he woke me up this morning" - no I'm pretty sure that was your alarm clock.

I have also heard "if you were able to wake up in the morning talk to your family and move around freely you should thank god!" - many many people do this everyday, without thought or consideration if god helped them do these things. We are supposed to "thank god" for everyday occurrences such as:  breathing, eating, waking up, sleeping and going to work among many other day to  day things we already do. I cant believe how warped my own mind was by this teaching!

"He helped me take a painful shit. Also, he helped me jerk off a little later. I was watching Gaping Anal Asian porn and then I felt something in my spirit leading me to Crying Brazilian Nun Bondage porn. Got me off in half the time. Of course, it might have been the toothbrush I shoved up my ass instead of god, I don't know for sure. What did he do for you?"

Oh dear, I remember that question well. What pissed me off was that I was supposed be extremely thankful for the very basic things in life (food, shelter, water, health) but when some were not there I was not to blame god for there absence. So when I found myself homeless and very unwell I was STILL expected to look for things to be thankful for as there is always some poor bugger worse off than me. After a while I could clearly see what god HADN"T done for me each day; the wanker. Well, there must be at this point in time a person breathing on this earth who is the MOST hard up, unwell, starving, abused, tortured, homeless person on this planet - what may I ask should they be thankful for??

Man this question irritates me. Of course now I know that 'shit happens' along with, I need to work to make what I want to happen, happen, I am a lot happier.

But there is something to be thankful to god for: Thank-you, God, for not really existing because if you did and allowed all the shit we go through to happen, I'd really be scared!

And welcome to ExC, Shia.

Welcome Shia!

It is quite annoying that Christians think you should praise God for any number of things that would happen anyway.

I have a Christian friend who has a nephew who is gravely ill.  The doctors have told the family they are not optimistic about his condition.  On FB, many of the people who care about him are praying that he will live and also that they can accept whatever God's will is regarding whether he lives or dies.

Sooooo -

Praise God if he lives!  God is merciful and heals the sick!

OR

Praise God if he dies!  God has brought him to heaven to live forevermore!  (So don't be sad, this is actually a good thing!)

It's really ridiculous and depressing.

I agree new2me.. it really puts a lot of pressure on a person.. "the lord giveth and the lord taken away.. blessed be the name of the lord" its absurd! we are told that if we ask anything in the lords name it will be given if you have faith and that completely contradicts the above.. anyone read job or had someone reference job when you were facing something bad? there is no compassion.. its just the lords will! or satan got you somehow..

Guest Babylonian Dream

What has Ishtar done for me? Well... according to the babylonians she actually was sex, so she's in the past made me feel really good.

As far as Xocolotl, the mayan god? OMG.... the things he's done for me. He's been so tasty all these years...

Jaybus and Yahoo-uh? Still waiting for a returned call. I used to call him via Prayr every night and morning and leave a message, but I never quite got a response.

Ninkasi (beer goddess) was lots of fun at the bar a while back.

And let's not forget Caffeina, whose spirit has endowed me with energy!

Blasphemy! Rocks do incredible things for people all the time!

For Lo! A layer of Rock - and mighty it is, despite it's thinness - holds us up above the roiling seas of molten Rock within the Earth. Without Rock, the Moon would not rise, tides would cease, and intertidal ecosystems would collapse. The very foundations of our civilization rest on rocks. Rocks can be mighty in their wrath, yet Rocks are vital to life.

(Basically, rocks actually deliver on a lot of the promises failed - we'd literally die in a lake of fire without solid rock, they sustain life, human civilization, etc. So, the question: shouldn't we be worshipping them instead? Some people sort of already do... funny thing that. Shoot, I guess I'll have to come up with another idea for a religion. So, hug a Rock today.)
