Book Of Revelations.

There seems to be a correlation between Christians and conspiracy theories. When it comes to Revelations, it seems to usually be the ones who believe it was meant for our time. I've noticed that quite a few of them try to "prove" Revelations with said theories.

 

Your thoughts?

I actually think the world is getting worse, but I believe its due to our abuse of technology and has nothing to do with the bible.

I dont think the world is getting worse, we just have more information (newspaper,internet,...) about what is going on.Think of burning witches, gladiator fights, slavery,...Morally the world is getting better.

The very first verses of Revelation state that it was meant to happen within a short period of time.

I tried making that very point in 10th grade Bible class, but with flaccid results from the youth pastor.

 

I was actually pointing out that violence on TV is a blessing compared to how people entertained themselves in the past with public executions, burning at the stake, Gladiator arena's, and so on. Now the kick for violence is primarily limited to make believe and fiction, hence, the world is advancing and evolving morally rather than devolving as the hype would have it. Some day even the violence in fiction will likely become out dated as mankind continues to evolve as a species.

We can actually measure how life is getting better over time.  Life expectancy, infant mortality, the buying power of the poor - these things can be compared.  The illusion that things are getting worse is a trick the human mind plays on us.

 

Unless, of course, we push global warming until there is no environment on the planet where humans can survive - if that happens then things really are getting worse.

I disagree, in fact even in my own country more and more people are being knifed and bashed, more people are drinking and doing other drugs, more people are becoming addicted to porn and gambling, more people are angry and impatient, the cost of living is becoming impossible to maintain and our goverments lie and deceive us at every turn also the health system is a joke.

 

Just because the world is getting worse it does not mean that revelations is going to happen. Theres a pefect logical reason why the world is getting worse and the pink unicorn wont help us make all these problems go away.

But whatever the case I agree that even if the world were getting worse, which I'm doubtful about concluding on such a thing, that wouldn't justify Revelation as true prophecy or anything like that.
