Supplication

There is a synergy to us

A nexus

Umbilical and strange

For when you take breath

That same air escapes my lips

And comes back to me with a sigh

But what if you should cease to breathe?

How then shall I persist?

O, do not take your breath from me, my love

For I cannot abide without it’s light touch on my cheek

Your voice is an ocean

Sweet is the waterfall of words

That fall from your mouth

And drop after drop

Like pearls

I covet them

Gather them like a child gathers seashells

To keep in quiet spaces

O, I reap the harvest of your promises, love

But if winter should come too soon

My sustenance is lost

And I shall wither in lassitude

Your touch is an opiate

In which I indulge with

Shameless urgency

Wrapping myself in the warm

Cocoon of your arms

Feelings the gentle palpitations

Of your heartbeat

In perfect tempo with my own

Discovering and rediscovering the flesh

Until all becomes beauty, all becomes grace

O, amend me not of my addiction, love

I am too much an adherent to part from you now

We are entirety

Two entities consensual

Connected in senses

Until we are one
