Goodbye Jesus

Happy Halloween!

With all the talk going around about downer Xians finding evil in Jack-o-lanterns and princess costumes, I thought you guys might need cheering up.  So I posted links for a couple of my favorite Halloweeny songs.  Feel free to post others that you know.  I wish I had thought of this sooner, but for me (and maybe others too) every day is Halloween.  There is never a wrong time of the year to scare yourself.

Marilyn Manson's cover of "This is Halloween" from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and I'm not a Manson fan, but this one is pretty good:

ok call me Mr Grumps. And I said it on the other thread. But I dislike halloween.

Just like with the over-commercialism of Christmas, its an excuse for shops to sell junk to people.

The demonic and occult overtones are also weird and creepy. Americans seem to be obsessed with it which is esp. strange from a supposedly Christian country.

OK then. Don't celebrate it. And yes, I know you don't like Halloween.

I love candy day.  I've got 750 744 741 pieces of chocolate to hand out.  Booo!

Gee, I hope the kids get here soon.

I like Halloween simply because so many Christians hate it.

Halloween makes me feel sad because I never got to experience it as a kid.  Silly Christian over protective parents.  Now I want to go out and dress up at club raves but my friends are all too boring for that.

I was telling my mum the other day, that I think her opposition to Halloween is silly.  She says it can scare children.  I said, surely, exposing children to the idea that 'scary' things are not actually real, and not actually to be feared, does them more good than harm.

I then said to the contrary, that doing what she did, and shielding her children from such things on the basis that witches and demons are real - when they in fact are not! - does much more harm to children, because they end up believing in frightening nonsense.
