Many Americans Continue To Deny The Evidence

You are the one making an extraordinary claim that goes against the mainstream scientific understanding of the universe. You are the one that needs to provide evidence.

My evidence is freely available if you look up big bang theory, CMBR, WMAP, BICEP2, etc. on Wikipedia or in mainstream astronomy textbooks (for information old enough to be printed there).

It is not up to me to defend the mainstream view, which has had evidence supporting it for decades. You are the one saying the mainstream is wrong. So prove it.

I note that you have come and gone without responding to my question: Please tell us about your studies of redshift. Are you suggesting that the standard methods of differentiating between the three main redshifts are invalid? Can you point me to some sources? Thanks.

The Big Bang singularity is no longer part of modern cosmology.

I pointed this out to Wololo, here... http://www.ex-christian.net/topic/62389-a-christian-framework/page-6#.U3Wzo_ldVmM ...in # 115.  Unfortunately he didn't get back to me about this.  But, as Hawking says, many people erroneously conclude that everything began from a singularity.  It's a common misunderstanding.

General Relativity is not tied to any absolute frame of reference, either in time or space.

Hence the name, 'relativity'. The events GR describes are equally valid, going forward in time or going backwards.   All things are relative and nothing is absolute - which is why Hawking took Penrose's forward-going gravitational collapse theorem and reversed it, turning a black hole into a white hole. The initial singularity referred to in this thread is of the time-reversed variety, leading to an expanding universe.

However, as I said to Wololo, such a theory has been discarded in favor of Inflation.

Using only GR to describe the early universe leads to insoluble problems.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flatness_problem

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang#Magnetic_monopoles

Also, Quantum physics plays no part in a GR-only description of the early universe and since we know that quantum effects are real, the GR-only description (incorporating a time-reversed singularity) cannot be either accurate or anywhere near complete.

So, discussion of a cosmological theory involving an initial singularity is (pardon the pun) pointless.

It has already been abandoned because it's unworkable.  And so, promoting the notion that mainstream cosmological science still supports it is therefore... false.

As to energy moving faster than the speed of light.

Of course this is disallowed in both GR and Quantum theory.  However, both paradigms operate within space.  Inflation is not the movement or expansion of anything within space - it is the ultra-rapid expansion of space itself.  This is not disallowed and can happen at any velocity.

Thanks,
