white_raven23
Okay Christians, At 5:48 PM Easter Standard time, a strange and amazing occurrance took place in Washington D.C. Visitors have arrived from another planet, and talks have begun to establish Earth's place in a galaxy filled with more examples of sentient life than we could ever have imagined. These visitors are as curious about human history and culture, as we are about theirs. When these people ask questions about the role of religion in our history.....what are you going to say? They do not believe in any religions themselves at this point. There have been great acts of uncivility as a result of religion from the perspective of these new beings, and they are asking you to explain how it all happened. Does this curiosity by the visiting culture mean you are obligated to attempt to convert them to Christianity? Or do you speak of religion objectively at this point, seeing little point in encouraging belief in a race clearly NOT meant to follow your holy book? Of do you feel your holy book will have universal appeal, and so you feel christianity should be encouraged in an alien race? Do yo offer to send missionaries to their home world? Does the appearance of life more intelligent than our own negate the supposed "superiority" of your religion? What does clear and uncontrivertable proof of sentient alien life mean for your religion? Define 'alien' a bit more. Are they completely alien, as in silicone-based creatures that have no precedent anywhere on our planet? Are they fish-people, or yetis, or even humans? If they were human in almost every respect, then religious types may feel a need to preach at them. If they are intelligent gas clouds, maybe not so much. For this hypothetical.......I'll say carbon based (like us), bipedal, but violet blooded, making them pale complected with a lilac tinge to the skin (as opposed to our pinkness) Webbed fingers. Translucent hair that often appears bright white in our light spectrum. Basically if you glanced at a mixed crowd of humans and these, you'd be able to pick them out after no more than three seconds at most. Interesting christian prejudice you bring up though. The "message" is fine for aliens more like "us" as opposed to gaseous life forms.

Well, I think if they resembled us even remotely, that would probably be all the 'evidence' xtians would need that they were also created in god's image (bipedal, 2 eyes, ears, arms, legs, etc). Therefore, they'd start throwing jeebus at them. If the aliens looked like shucked oysters, however...
