In the West we have basically two ways to view the universe. We either see ourselves as unworthy worms in need of God's mercy and grace (that god being based on monarchical government models) or, rejecting that paradigm, we are the insignificant result of random occurrences in a mechanical universe external to us. Perhaps both positions are too extreme and don't actually reflect observable reality. If you feel like devoting the time to this video, there are some ideas worth kicking around. Christians are encouraged to chime in!

Thanks Florduh. I listened to the whole thing. Good description of Christianity as well as a mechanistic universe. I liked his discussion of consciousness vs matter.  Is consciousness a function of matter? Or is matter brought on by consciousness?

 

Is a rock conscious? Maybe a little.
