MOHO
DUH! Seriously, I have not checked the credentials of the author of this but, apparently, a study confirms what most here have figured out... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-4739224/Religious-people-emotional-not-think-logically.html?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark
Rounin
Many people could benefit from seeing the film Inside Out. Paying attention to only one mode of thinking and neglecting another is akin to throwing away half one's brain. There's great personal strength in employing all the mental tools at one's disposal. On another note, it's interesting to read the following passage: "It suggests that religious individuals may cling to certain beliefs, especially those which seem at odds with analytic reasoning, because those beliefs resonate with their moral sentiments". Really now? What do the Christian beliefs say about the morality of tossing someone into a furnace of fire where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth? Because I'm pretty sure it doesn't resonate with mine.
