Goodbye Jesus

Hypocricy

MOHO

Recommended Posts

Sunday afternoon at a small French Cafe' downtown one my fundy friends saunters in with wifypooh and we have a nice chat. Upon leaving he says ...

Fundy: "Hope to see you at church next week."

MOHO: "That is not going to happen!"

Fundy: "why?"

So I go into the speal about Hitchens, Carrier, Dawkins etc.

Funday: "You should read Josh McDowell's Evidence that Demands a Verdict."

MOHO: "I did a couple years ago. There are a number of holes in it!"

Funday: "Well, I wouldn't know...I haven't read it."

MOHO: "Why would you recommend a book you have not read?"

He quickly turned the conversation to how he knows god exists.

So is that because a perfect being would exist by definition, was it because good/morals/consciousness had to come from somebody or was it because the universe is fine tuned/well designed?

He started into his testimony and I cut him off.

Pretty similar to the relationship a lot of people have with the Bible.

The sum of you is greater than the sum of God, how? Because I can prove you exist, and that you have influence over the affairs of people. However, I can not prove God exists or has influence over the affairs of people.

Ah, the old "God is real because God changed my life.  And God will change your life too if you only shut off your brain and assume it's all true".

I suggested it was all in his head after confirming he heard no audible voices or had no visions, not that that would really change too much, and I received that deer in the headlights look from him in response.
