For the second time in a year Israel Folau has come under fire for his tweets - this time he's targeting the classics - drunks, idolaters etc... and of course atheists. (I'm suddenly agnostic about all this!)

I'm half inclined to open a twitter account and troll the crap out of him!

Obviously I disagree with him, but I disagree with firing him because of his statements.  If expressing more-or-less traditional Christian teaching is grounds for firing, what other unpopular views justify it?  In a religious culture, would it be OK to fire a guy for making strong atheistic comments?  Way too many thin skins these days.

I agree! Firing seems a bit extreme. Just holding his views up to ridicule is fine.

My take on most of this kind of backlash against someone's comments is that is has less to do with thin skin than it does with begin passive-aggressive.

And here comes the persecution complex syndrome.

"I can't say what shit I like to therefore I'm a persecuted Christian" seems to be the main takeaway.
