First Council of Nicaea didn't know the authors of the new testament and what happened in the past and this is why they decided things about Jesus ?

The Council of Nicaea was to settle the Arian Controversy among other things.  Basically, what is the nature of jesus?  Arius said that he was of a different essence, or "stuff," than god (the father) and the Catholic church (in Rome) said they were of the same stuff.  When the council met many Arians flipped and so Arias lost and he was excommunicated and his teachings banned.  The Nicene Creed resulted and reflects these principles of god and jesus (and another revision included the spirit) being of the same stuff.  Many of those who flipped were given positions in the newly unified church (so there was probably a little something going on behind the scenes although no one can actually prove anything).  Constantine's took his instruction from an ex-Arian and many of his own beliefs lean very Arian.  The Arian teachings lived on in the "barbaric" regions not just for centuries but for millennia.  They still appear in some form or another to this day.  Arias was invited to rejoin the church but died (was killed) before he could.

Anyhow, the council was called because a group of folks from the orthodoxy (or right thinking) church managed to get the ear of Constantine and tell him that there was a heretical (or wrong thinking) group that was causing problems and it needed to be settled.  Round about this time it seems that Constantine was still invested in Sol Invictus so he probably didn't know, or really even care, too much about the religion and even if he did it would only be what those around him would have told him.  Peace and unity would likely be a top priority so I would think he really didn't care which side won out as long as they came to some sort of decision that allowed for them settle their differences.

Similar to what mwc stated, it was all around the Emperor trying to remove a growing divide between Arius' and Athanisius' theology regarding Jesus. Was he created as Arius thought or was he divine (of the same stuff as the father) which is what Athanisuis believed. Arius is considered a heretic now so you can guess who one.

Arguments were made from tradition and scripture, but I'm pretty certain the scriptures they had were already attributed to the authors who's names they bare today.
