Goodbye Jesus

One grain of sand in the Sahara desert.

9th, January 1992, less than 30 years ago we found our first exo-planet. Before then some astronomers had dreaded that Earth was the only planet in the Universe

Now even with very limited telescopes, we have discovered thousands of planets around stars outside our solar system. With trillions of trillions (24 noughts) of stars known, there could be far more than that number of planets out there, waiting to be discovered.

How can anyone believe that a God spends all his time on this one planet, even sending his son to die here and sending prophets here, when there are other planets almost without number?

The ingredients for life seem to be common with some even found in space, and we find life living in the most hostile conditions; like in boiling acid, in a vacuum, in nuclear reactors, etc on Earth. Given a chance and time, evolution means it is onwards and upwards for life.

How can any astronomer believe in a "one planet god", when if they believe god made everything, why would he not have spread life throughout the Universe?

The idea of an Armageddon when everything ends suddenly becomes ridiculous as does heaven and hell. With maybe a hundred billion people having lived in all, that would be bad enough for a god to decide where to put them all after he has resurrected them, but multiply that figure by trillions and a real problem develops.
