According to the bible, God drowned every single baby and child in the world.

 

When he wanted to punish Pharaoh in the Moses story, he killed all the first born.

 

1Samuel 15:3, God orders his people to kill everyone, including infants and babies. Also Joshua 6:21.

 

Psalm 137:9. Smash little ones against rocks. Also Hosea 13:16 and Isaiah 13:16.

 

It used to be that 29,000 babies and little children suffered and died every single day but medicine and health care got that figure below 20,000 babies and little children suffering and dying every single day. Thank God.

 

Almost 2 million babies are stillborn every year – or 1 every 16 seconds which does not sound like God caring about fetuses inside the womb.

 

BTW, a working brain uses up to 25% of the body's energy, so the brain does not start working till a baby takes its first breath. A fetus is not capable of thought or of feeling pain.

 

Christians LIE that the bible is against abortion but all it says is:

 

 

Exodus 21:22-25. This part of the Covenant Code legislates the case of a pregnant woman who becomes involved in a brawl between 2 men and has a miscarriage. A distinction is then made between the penalty that is to be exacted for the loss of the fetus and injury to the woman. For the fetus, a fine is paid as determined by the husband and the judges.

 

So anti-abortion is not a bible or a christian thing. It is catholic virgin men in frocks telling women what to do, Telling women they MUST put up with pregnancy for nine months and with the agony of child birth.

 

Telling raped women that they MUST have the baby of their rapist.

 

Telling couples that they MUST have unwanted children.

 

Telling couples that they MUST pay hundreds of thousands in costs raising each child.

 

With nearly eight billion people in an overcrowded world, we do not need to continue multiplying like when there was just eight people in the world, after the Flood.

Its not just catholic. Evangelicals, fundamentalists and generally Christians who thing only God has the right to take life.

 

An anti-abortion stance can be reconciled with Christianity because if you believe that only God has the right to take life then obviously no woman has the right to choose to abort. This overcomes the whole God killed babies argument because God has the right to kill babies and children and adults with life experiences. But a woman aborting at 12 weeks? Hell no, that's a sin. Now if God struck the woman with lightning killing her and the fetus, well that would be perfectly fine.

 

It's a disgusting and immoral position to hold, but millions, if not billion of Christian people do hold to it proving once again morality is subjective.

Not entirely true. I think there is brain function at various stages, but whether there is consciousness in a form we recognise I don't know.

 

Also it is widely considered that foetuses can feel pain at some stage (some put it as early as 7 weeks, other as late as 26 weeks) Again whether its the same as we experience pain is unknown at this stage. It's a bit hard to communicate directly with a foetus to find out.

 

In our arguments we must be careful not to overstate our position or get our facts wrong least it weaken the argument being made.
