Angels

Religious people like making stuff up and angels have been given the full treatment, being from humans (in the Sodom fable), to babies to monsters:

The bible makes it clear that God lives in the clouds above us

and Jesus floated up into the clouds after the resurrection so angels were given wings in images of them from the fourth century onwards.

 

As late as Revelation, the stars are just fires in the sky which can fall to the ground:

 

Revelation  6:13  And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

 

So what need to fly into space and further afield?

Angles have always been a complex topic for me. A cute angle will show up sometimes, but many are just obtuse. Of course this occurs in varying degrees... uh... wait... never mind.
