Sexton Blake
Which is why there are so many, many different gods and why there are so many versions of each of the gods. People are making up their own gods based on personal biases and wishes as they have nothing concrete to use.

And why is it that the followers of all these different gods 'know' them in their hearts and so have no need for any kind of proof? 2 hours ago, Sexton Blake said: People are making up their own gods based on personal biases and wishes as they have nothing concrete to use. Exactly. Their inner 'knowledge' of their own chosen god is entirely subjective. All they are doing is subjectively interpreting objective (i.e., concrete) facts to fit their own chosen narrative. They do the opposite of the old saying, 'see and you will believe'. They believe and so they see what they want to see.
walterpthefirst
On the subject of proof, Sexton. The Dec 2020 edition of Scientific American carries an excerpt from the Dec 1870 Scientific American, about Spiritualism. There's little point in quoting the whole thing, but the comments of Doctor William A. Hammond about Spiritualism seem very pertinent. He writes... "Spiritualism is a religion. As such it is held tenaciously by many well-meaning people. To reason with these would be a waste of words, just as much as would be the attempt to persuade a madman out of his delusion. Emotion, or interest, or accident might change them, but facts never." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_A._Hammond Hammond eloquently makes my case for me. Those of a religious mindset do not deal in proofs, because proofs are a function of the rational and reasoning mind. But religion (and delusion) are a function of the emotions. Thank you.
