Hi all, I did a search for this but didn’t get any threads that explicitly deal with what I am after, sorry if I am wasting a post though.

 

What recommendations do people have for serious academic work on the bible from a secular perspective ? I am thinking the likes of Joel Badens’ work on the documentary hypothesis . At the moment I am not after things about leaving Christianity or more popular level works like some of Ehrman’s (he will have good information but he aims a lot of his work at lay people, making academic concensus more accessible)

 

While I can just go ahead and scour the academic publishers I would appreciate the suggestions of those who have already thought about this. The danger of being a newbie - too much out there. I am not averse to spending some of the prices that Brill and Mohr Siebeck etc give, although not my preferred.
