Ms. Professor and I would like to invite you all to celebrate with us the arrival of our new little Ms. Professorette.  She arrived this afternoon at 1:17pm EST, weighing 8lb 3oz at 20 inches long.  Both mom and baby are well and resting.

Congrats. Here is something my son brought home from kindergarten some 44 years ago:

What shall we give the children?

Attention, for one day it will be too late.

A sense of humor. Laughter leavens life.

The meaning of discipline.

The will to work.

The talent for sharing, for it is not so much what we give as what we share.

The love of justice.

The passion for truth. Truth is the beginning of every good thing.

The beacon of hope, which lights all darkness.

The knowledge of being loved beyond demand or reciprocity, praise or blame, for those so loved are never lost.

The open sky, the brown earth, the leafy trees, the golden sand, the blue water, the stars in their courses, and awareness of these.

Birdsong, butterflies, clouds and rainbows.

Sunlight, moonlight, and fire light.

A large hand reaching down for a smaller hand, impromptu praise, an unexpected kiss, a straight answer.

The glisten of enthusiasm and a sense of wonder.

Long days to be merry in and nights without fear.

The memory of a good home.

Ms. Professorette has decided to spend this Independence Day weekend cutting her first tooth.  Thoughts and prayers gratefully appreciated.  😆

Well, Prof., the software won't let me make any more reactions but you have my sympathies.

Damn it, where's my converter...  8lb 3oz at 20 inches long = 3.7kg and 50cm, ah, perfect :)

You have exchanged sleep for cuteness, and while it may not always feel that way at 3am, the joy they bring is worth it all.
