The fundamental problem with Christianity

It is harmful. If it was merely false and harmless, there would not be a problem, but it has driven people insane over the years. 

People have abandoned their loved ones, for pie in the sky fantasy's. for which there is little good evidence.

Well there's that famous quote by Victor Hugo: "I don’t mind what Congress does, as long as they don’t do it in the streets and frighten the horses." So we can turn that to Christians and say that as long as they just keep to themselves it might be fine. The big problem is that they do it in the streets, figuratively speaking, and force their beliefs upon others through social pressure and through the force of law. Crawl into a large cardboard box and wait for Jesus to come again if you want to, just don't try to force others to do the same.
