Greek court: Orthodox students cannot be exempted from religion classes

ISTANBUL (RNS) — Even exemptions in which non-Orthodox Christian students state their beliefs, the Greek Council of State ruled, did not violate human rights or European Union privacy laws.

Yeah, too bad about Greece. I'm noticing this appears to be in the Turkish news. Unless they have had a constitutional amendment, a similar Moslem decision could not happen in Turkey because their constitution originally prohibited religion from being a part of the actions of state such as free public education. This part of the Turkish constitution was one of the clearest requirements in the world regarding the separation of church and state.
