☆ moxieflux66 ☆
I just read an extraordinary post written in 2005 on this subject in the FAQ section. I think it's a good question to revise for the Coliseum. What say you Christians?
Moderator TABA Posted November 3, 2023 Moderator Share Posted November 3, 2023 Why do Christians debate Non-Christians? Serious christians want to save our souls from Hell (or annihilation, depending on how they read the Bible). They tend to leave when they realize how hardened are our hearts. Unserious ones just tend to like to argue. As for us heathens, we like to point out the fallacies in christianity, for the benefit of our audience, not with an expectation of changing the believer’s mind. I_confessin_my_fsm
If i may, I (we) have experienced first hand the excesses of the practice from a colonizer point of view. An Easter parade, where the locals were flogging themselves with well, floggers until bloody. Very bloody. That was the warm up for the Jesus dude, not nailed, but tied to a cross, but the crown o thorns were real. This was performed in the name of Jesus, of course. If that doesn't "harden your heart", I"m not sure you have one. The fallacies of xtianity are many and varied, and at a very young age I saw and was confused by many of them as a kid. Changing someone's mind would be secondary, to me, to making sure you don't flog yourself bloody, no matter how many ways there are to do it.
