Not only don't I know the person who dumped it on me. Every email address she sent it to is visible in the header. There has to be at least 75 to 100 email addresses (including mine) fully visible to everyone who received this trash. :vent:

I AM SENDING THIS TO EVERYBODY BECAUSE I BELIEVE OUR CANADIAN FRIENDS ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone-----YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM !!!!

Subject: THIS WAS IN A TAMPA NEWSPAPER

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice?????? Think about it! All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?

I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by everyone..............we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings.

It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?

We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being Offended! But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all!

This is an editorial written by an

American citizen, published in a

Tampa, FL Newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!

IMMIGRANTS,

NOT AMERICANS,

MUST ADAPT.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we

Are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11,

We have experienced a surge

In patriotism by the majority

Of Americans. However...... The dust from the attacks had

Barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about

The possib! ility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not again st immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America.

Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants.

However, there

Are a few things that those

Who have recently come to

Our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of America being a

Multicultural community

Has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans......

We have our own culture, our

Own society, or on language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have! sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.

Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............

Founded this nation..... And this is clearly documented.

It is certainly appropriate to display it

On the walls of our schools.

If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as

Your new home.........because

God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or

You don't like Uncle Sam, then you

Should seriously consider a move

To another part of this planet.

We

Are happy with our culture and have

No desire to change, and we really

Don't care how you did things where

You came from.

This is

OUR COUNTRY,

Our land, and our lifestyle.

Our First Amendment gives every citizen the

Right to express his opinion and we

Will allow you every opportunity to do so!

But once you are done complaining....... Whining...... And griping....... About our flag.......

Our pledge...... Our nationa! l motto........or our

Way of life....I highly encourage you to

Take advantage of one other Great American Freedom.......

THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

It is Time for Ame rica to Speak up

If you agree -- pass this along;

If you don't agree -- delete it - You are in the WRONG Country!

AMEN

I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later

Get back to the complainers, lets all try,

Please!

Just another example of the Culture of Hate as a motivator.

The "Seasons Greetings" vs "Merry Christmas" is pretty much a mountan-from-molehill argument. I do not recall anywhere it is law to use one over the other. Businesses mostly use the more generic form, so as to reduce possible insult/offence to the largest number of potential shoppers.

I say to those who don't like "Seasons Greeting" to vote with your feet: NO ONE is MAKING you shop in those stores, now ARE they?

AND, you have the right to say what ever you please around the holiday times, do you not?

Me, I like to say things like "Happy Sabot" sometimes, just to shake things up a bit ...

One of my daughter's closest friends is Hebrew. When people tell her "Merry Christmas" she looks them straight in the eye and says, "I can't I'm Jewish". :)

I've been with her when she does it, it's a hoot. :lmao:

The look on people's faces when they realize there really are other religions in the world besides Christianity is priceless.

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan..

Actually, I think it is. Didn't that come out of McCarthyism? Or was it just the alteration to the pledge.

We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............

Founded this nation..... And this is clearly documented.

Actually, weren't they Deists? Ben Frankly, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson... Those guys weren't Christians, and I'm pretty sure they had something to do with founding this country.

If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as

Your new home.........because

God is part of our culture.

Shouldn't they be the one leaving? They're the ones that are against that whole Constitution thing that the country is based on. Wouldn't they be happier in a country like, say, Iran? Would it be possible to send them there?

Kind of similar to that day long ago, in an earlier version of these forums (before you came here if memory serves), when someone told our former member Spacefalcon that he obviously doesn't understand what the wholly babble really says and that he should read that OT passage the discussion was all about in its original Hebrew version.

Too bad that fundie brat wasn't aware of the fact that SF is a Jew. Let's guess what "version" of the "OT" he was using... :lmao:

Aside from that, yeah, the false dilemma the fundies love so dearly gets really really funny when the time comes where they just can't deny any longer that there's more than just christianity and atheism out there.

I remember one time in a usenet newsgroup when a fundie claimed to know exactly what "scripture" really says. Of course he meant the wholly babble when he used that word, but he didn't clearly say that. I decided to fight back with the same weapon and replied "Nope. My scripture says no such thing."

"Then go get a new bible!"

"I said 'scripture', not 'bible'. I did so for a reason. I thought it was clear enough from my signature that I'm not a christian?"

He never replied. :pureevil:

Shouldn't they be the one leaving? They're the ones that are against that whole Constitution thing that the country is based on. Wouldn't they be happier in a country like, say, Iran? Would it be possible to send them there?

I say "do so". And don't forget to count the hours until they desperately beg to get back in. :fdevil:

Yeah. I was recently having dinner with some family friends for their daughter's birthday and mentioned I was at a sci-fi con that runs all Easter weekend.

Predictably, they were like "Easter???!"

I said "Yes, not everyone is Christian, you know. Most people in sci-fi fandom are not religious, or if they are, they tend to be of other religions than Christian."

I was asked, "What religions are they?"

I said, "Pagan."

The look I got was complete disbelief, and she tried to cover it by saying, "Well, I know there are people who aren't Christian..."

I said "You know, I'm not all that religious anymore either. I'm not Pagan, but I'm just not religious."

Someone changed the subject. My guess was that they were NOT comfortable talking about that and I will probably be interrogated about my non-belief at a later date. :ugh: I will just avoid doing anything with them.

What is it with Christians and the unwillingness to accept those who don't believe what they do? And these people aren't even fundies!

My bets are with the good old "If others aren't christians (any longer) then it might be possible that alternatives exist for me too"...

That's easier when you're younger. These people are 50+ (well, except for their daughter who was having the birthday, she's a few years younger than me).

Speaking of leftovers from McCarthyism, I recall that the guy himself was an atheist, who just brought in the God-stuff because, as we all know, it was to indoctrinate the people further away from those godless commies in Russia.

So I do kinda laugh to myself when people talk like it was some sincere nationwide faith in the Good True Lord that put those words in there.

Amethyst...

In my experience... this attitude comes across most when people somehow shield themselves from those who are different than they are. Some people just don't want to deal with reality, so they create a nice (seemingly) safe little environment and tell themselves they're safe. And they resist when people interupt them for a reality check.

But, interrupt away ... Amethyst ... :wicked: The world needs more people who are willing to put the breakers on narrow-minded approaches to life.

You know, I'm getting fucking tired of all these fundy idiots who

assume that this country is a theocracy just because they happen

to be living in it. Who the hell are they to tell people that they

have to be christian to live here?!? All that inbreeding must

really hurt!

This is kind of off topic, but I recently got a text message in my cell phone on the same topic.

Have no idea who sent it or why (uh, actually I could guess why).

Im thinking of texting back a good retort.

is that a good idea or should I just delete it?

Delete it! I see similar stuff occasionally on my hubby's email, when I sneak a peek at it, from a couple of my hubby's friends.
