Christians claim that their version of reality is the correct one, and that events occurring in our time prove it. Yet, as shall be shown, the Christian conception of reality is grossly in error.

 

The first and most important way that Christians misinterpret and misrepresent reality is with the unfounded assertion that there is a God. God is admittedly a wonderful idea in some respects, but the reality is that there is no evidence that the Christian God or any other god, for that matter, actually exists. God is completely imaginary – only a character in an ancient book, and yet Christians misrepresent reality by insisting that he exists and passing this false belief on to others.

 

Christians misinterpret and misrepresent who Jesus was. Contrary to Christian beliefs about him, the reality is that Jesus was not and is not God. The Jesus of the Bible, created by anonymous authors decades after his alleged life, never lived. The historical Jesus – if there was one – was an itinerant apocalyptic Jewish preacher whom Paul later deified, making him the Second Person of a Triune God.

 

Christians misinterpret and misrepresent what the Bible is. Christians claim that it is the "inerrant, infallible Word of God". Nothing could be further from the actual truth. The Bible is far from being inerrant or infallible. It contains many scientific, factual, and historical errors. As it is filled with contradictions, absurdities, atrocities, and a great deal of bad history, the Bible hardly qualifies as the "word" of a god. The truth is that it is little other than an untrustworthy ancient Book of Myths.

 

Christians believe that there is a spiritual reality that is just as real as physical reality, and that this spiritual world interacts with our own. Yet the reality is that there is no evidence of a spiritual reality. There is no evidence that heaven or hell actually exist. There is no evidence that a devil, angels or demons actually exist. These realms and beings are the stuff of ancient religious mythology, not reality.

 

Christians misinterpret and misrepresent who we (humankind) are. According to the Bible, we were specially created by God approximately 6000 years ago. The demonstrable reality is that we evolved to our current Homo sapiens form over a time period of millions of years.

 

Christians believe that we possess a soul which is the "real" us, yet there is no evidence that this is so. We are wholly physical beings, our minds being a product of our brains. Our mind is what our brain does. There is no need for this elusive, undetectable soul.

 

Reality is that God and Satan and angels and demons exist only as characters in a book – a collection of ancient religious mythology. The same goes with heaven and hell. They are not real places. They exist only within the pages of the Bible – a book filled with religious myths.
