I believe that the moderate majority in this country has become so apathetic that the Christian-right is finally going to have the Supreme Court it has always wanted. (It will also be the same Supreme Court that corporate America has always wanted too.) Eventually the draconian laws that will be established will become too much to bear even for the average Christian, and the pendulum will swing back to the left.
