For the same reason other "civilized" people have messed with the primitives. To steal thier land, to spread the word of thier most high prophet Xerbrquet, or to make Intergalactic Geographic magazines and movies.

That's two out of three plans that seemingly failed, no? :P

Well, unless Xerbrquet is also known as jebus, or mohamed...

Also don't forget Scientology and thier whacked out shit regarding the problems we face in this world. From L.Ron Hubbard's point of view some crazy dictator alien named Xenu and his Thetans is the root to all our problems (including religion and war). :Wendywhatever::HaHa:

I've thought about extraterrestrial influences on the developement of life on planet Earth, but I've also thought about the logistics. Consider...suppose there is an civilization out there in space, intelligent as we are. They would like to explore, find another race of intelligent life, as we would. Would they not be limited by the same limits as we are? It would take centuries, if not millenia, to find another intelligent life form on another planet...(where would you start to look?). Then there is the incentive to build a transport device. Then there are the ethical questions of how you would send out your representatives on a shot in the dark, literally, to look for this race. Then, what would you do when you found them, if you ever did?

Science fiction is great...I love it. But it's fanciful entertainment. In stark reality, it appears that we are an island in a huge ocean. Life may, and probably does, exist out there in our own galaxy, and in others. Possibly in abundance. But how to make contact? That is a task we may not ever accomplish in the duration of our species' existence.

It is far more plausible that life's evolution on planet earth could have been influenced by the movement of viruses, strands of RNA or DNA protected by a protein coat that could have moved around in the cosmos uninhibited by the constraints of time. That raises a whole new set of questions for which we have no clear answers.

Bottom line...enjoy speculating, if that stimulates you. Write science fiction scenarios if you can. But accept that it's all just conjecture for the present.
