I mean, if he relapses, then I won't have to tell him anything...I'm just going to leave him. I need to see him sober in a real environment for at least a year before I marry him. So, we'll just wait and see what his attitude is like. Actually this strikes me as rather wise. Most that go into AA relapse, some totally fail. I also agree with the waiting a year thing. I was my wife's boyfriend for 5 years before we decided to get married, she is also my first wife, and we raised two kids and put them through college. Not quite so sure the story would have had a happy ending had we rushed in. People that take it seriously, and let some time go by tend to make it imo. I would not "dump" him on the first relapse though. If you think it's worthwhile (you obviously do or you would not be engaged) then you should play the movie out to its conclusion.
