I thank the Moderator for allowing me to share what I believe is the truth and I apologize for not knowing how to use the quote keys. I've visited many forums but I have to say that none holds a candle to this one when it comes to profanity, disrespect and hostility. You may be ex-christians but that shouldn't prevent you from acting like civil people. Jesus is always there for you if you want him: "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." I was hoping he left a couple of days ago, when he first said he was leaving. He could come back still. He couldn't take the heat and the rough language we use. But hey! We use it all the time, and sometimes to each other! If I was 70 yrs old, and went into a rave club, I couldn't demand them to lower the volume because it was too loud for little me! My dear friend Madbuni told me about it and of course out of my curiousness, I continue to come in and read. I have no testimony to give because I'm still not really sure what I believe in so why make a statement that would make no sense. However, I am a very open minded person and do not condemn anyone for what they believe in, it is their choice. However ........ Why??? We were pretty much divided into two camps: 1) Profanity is the last resort of the uneducated, and should not be used in intelligent discourse, and 2) "Fuck them!" We should be able to express ourselves with whatever words we choose. Freedom of speech rules! Don't like it? Then go away. I'm torn. While I like to TRY and avoid "cussing" just for the sake of it, sometimes a well placed "fuck" just does wonders for my message! It somehow reassures me that I haven't allowed religious and societal conditioning to rob me of my autonomy and free thought. I personally believe that anyone who is "put off" by so-called profanity is just being silly. Grow up! Are you some delicate hot-house flower, in need of shelter from the harsh, blistering words of heathens? If so, then GOOD! Now I know how to keep you away from me! FUCK off! There are some situations in which swearing ought to be avoided (like in the workplace). But this isn't work. And I don't go here when I'm at work. Seems like a very broad generalization to me. Many of us are civil (at least most of the time). Of course we could say the same thing about many of our christian visitors who come here and disrespect our beliefs or tell us we're going to hell.
