The site is run by Fred Phelps who picketed the funeral of Matthew Shepard back in 1998 with signs that said things like "God Hates Fags", "Save the Gerbils" and "Matthew in Hell". I read that in one town in Virginia where Phelps was going to protest a dead soldiers funeral, the local residents chased him and his people out of town.
