Thurisaz
Oh boy I knew that it's gotta be shitty of course... what else to expect from a 4th reich propaganda channel? But that it's such a disgusting example of 24/7 brainwashing... Just wanted to let you know. Oh, and... I herewith officially abandon all hope for the (former) US. A nation that lets such crap sit on the airwaves unpunished has no right to... well... you can imagine... *runs to the bathroom to puke*
Ouroboros
TBN is scary. I can watch a horror flick, no problem, but TBN makes me sick. And it's real people doing it, and they think they have something!

Dio
Hey, now -- you guys lay off. TBN performed an essential service for me -- proving that there was no way in HELL God could possibly exist. And Christians think that WE are the most harmful people to their cause! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, aexapo. This post seems a little sarcastic and facetious, so I assume you meant it as such according to your sig-line, at least partially. In all seriousness, TBN did contribute to my eventual deconversion, in that the pastor of the church my now-ex-wife and I were attending, made an occasional appearance on the network. That made me realize that the church was a joke, which eventually led me to question and re-examine everything about my belief system. My conclusion was: "I don't know what are the ultimate truths of the universe, but I do know that what TBN and my church are spouting, cannot be it. There were other mitigating factors as well, but I owe TBN a debt of gratitude in an odd sort of way. Maybe I'll make a donation to their next Praise-a-thon. Wadd'ya think? white_raven23
If you really want to barf, check out the Lifetimes channel. So called television for women. Nice little emotional rollercoaster movies. And you get such a WUN-derful idea of what American women are all about. If E.T. alien men are watching Lifetime to get an idea of how to approach American earth-women to coerce them into breeding........ Their plans for womb-domination will most certainly fail. Unless they focus their energies of the bible-belt states.
Clergicide
I love TBN, where else can you see Benny Hinn smacking people around with a prayer-rug!? Or where else can you see other televangelists waving around a slice of chocolate 'Jesus-cake' screaming about righteously sweet and delicious Jesus is??? If TBN had Mother Angelica the station would be complete. Mother Angelica was the first Christian television personality I ever saw beggin for money to setup new radio towers to spread the word of Jesus..course now she's on Satellite feed. Maybe I'm sick, I get hours of amusement from Christian radio/television.
Mr. Neil
TBN is hilarious. It's like bizarro world television. Like nothing makes sense. I watch TBN and I-Life every now and then. If there's a shitty Christian movie on and I'm up for a laugh, I'll flip it on. That's how I saw Left Behind. Kirk Cameron is the most wooden actor ever. My husband and I love Mother Angelica!!! She is a scream...sadly we don't get...oh, what station was that on? Some Ecumenical thing, wasn't it? Either way, we haven't seen her in an age. And I'm one of the gang here who does watch Christian Broadcasting for the humor factor too. Sunday mornings can be great television when your snark meter is running on 'high'. nirrti
Just watched it for 30 seconds and lost just as many IQ points. Some youth evangelist was promoting a website that helps in the "battle for America's youth". Of course, he used the same old scare tactics, a group of teens in baggy, sloppy clothing, a statistic saying that only 4% of kids will come to Christ (too good to be true), some boy supposedly looking at a porn website and another kid......*gasp!* smoking a cigarette. And on this minister's website, you can find out how to reach America's youth for Christ and the horrible epidemic of..........*horrors* teenage oral sex. Then, the promotion contrasts these images with those of arenas full of clean-cut kids looking "fired up for Christ" and zoned out as if under hypnosis while listening to said preacher. Not suprisingly, it had an eery resemblance to the Nazi propaganda films with the Hitler youth. I know this much. If I ever have children, I'll certainly be utilizing my V-chip.....to block out this channel. Oh, and here's the link ......battly cry
godlessgrrl
TBN is the kind of channel that deserves to be brutally MiSTie'd. Hell, that'd be a channel all its own - the MiStie TBN channel!

Thurisaz
I swear to fucking Jesus Christ I will start a Mech war right here in Canada!] Gimme a Mad Cat and I'm on your side! Or, even better, one of my self-designed "Alien warrior" machines. In pretty much all the fights I ever lead these monsters to, they dismembered all opposition with ease. Thurisaz
That said, I start to develop a kind of morbid fascination with TBN. Similar to the way a friend of mine (a "free shaman" as he designates himself) uses German chick(en) tracts to show to his "disciples" the madness of the jebus cult. Methinks any German who watches TBN for just one hour (provided that he/she understands what is said there... not too difficult as the core of the message - "jebusjebusjebusjebusjebus..." - is easily understandable to any German) will get cured of the death cult madness for life

Vigile
If you really want to barf, check out the Lifetimes channel. So called television for women. Nice little emotional rollercoaster movies. You aren't kidding WR. They might as well call it the man-hater's channel. Every movie is about how a man abuses, stalks, and rapes women. I do like the show Designing Women though. Do they still have that?
Vigile
Oh that's nothing, here in Canada, we have Vision TV. and God dammit if I ever channel surf, and see the likes of Coleflour Dollar (Cueffo Dollar), Pat Dollar, Peter Fuckoff, and Rexellduh (wife of Jack Van Impe) I swear to fucking Jesus Christ I will start a Mech war right here in Canada! Now don't be too hard on Jack Van Impe. That man makes for pure comedy. I fall into tear-squirting laughter sessions when that guy comes on. Thurisaz
Back on topic, am I just tuning in at the wrong times (aside from it's always the "wrong" time if it's a death cult channel, of course) or are almost all the preachers white and the audience always at least predominantly black? By the way, just how "mainstream" or persecuted is this channel? Is this definitely showing how the vast majority of 4th reich death cultists are, or is it fundified even for fundie standards? Because... if you tried to set up such a channel here in Germany, I guess it would be forced off-air within a day with the reason "sectarian brainwashing" stated by the officials... Outsider2
Kirk Cameron is the most wooden actor ever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Of course on TBN there is "The Way of The Master" with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort. I have watched it a few times and it is fun to watch some of the "bad" interviews they have with people they try to save. One time they approached a guy and he figured they were going to witness to them and he goes.. "Ahh... You know what, I don't mean to offend anyone, but.... F%^# Christianity! You gotta praise the dude from boldness.
Thurisaz
Ah, the thread has risen from the dead. Glory! Honestly now, repeating my recent questions: Is it typical that those TBN preachers are almost all white and the audience always at least predominantly black? How mainstream is this disgusting channel?
Thurisaz
...It is pretty mainstream......it seems to be popular with people who are charismatic, non-denominational or growth church movement (which is the direction most churches in america are headed)... I would like to reinforce the subject of this thread: All is lost!!!

I honestly can't remember the last time I watched Lifetime, and I'm female. Nothing remotely interesting there. Mostly, I watch CNN and the WB. Sometimes, I watch the Simpsons on Fox.
