While I do know more about science than my dad, even I am inadequate in that departmet, thanks in part to being raised with a distrust of scientists. I was instilled with a respect for the Bible rather than science. Anything that went against "the Word of God" just had to be an egotistical rejection of God to indulge in sin. My dad still looks at the world with that severe distortion, though hopefully he at least sees that I don't fit that mold. He knows I'm not out living a wild life. I simply work hard to take care of my family and I try to be fair and reasonable in all I do. However, even though he should recognize it's not an excuse to "sin" for me, he still obviously falsely attributes my views to at least some level of rebellion against God.
