Why is it when I saw the user name, the first person that came to mind was the Reverend AtheiStar? And it is you! Was wondering where you went off to. Tried to find some quotes from your old site on the types of creationism you had listed before, but the site was gone and only your myspace page - which took forever to load, despite being on dual T-1 lines. Nice to see you back. Need to have your account looked at so you can log back in as your old account? I'll check out your book.

That could be because when I introduced that subject here, several years back, it was the single longest running thread I ever did make! It was nothing short of amazing how many people that jumped on that one! It was one of the early reasons why, actually, I knew that it had potential for a popular book.

I lost my old site after I changed email addresses. They tried sending me a message that it was time to renew but it was linked to the old one and so I never got it. That sucked, it really did. I loved that site. It was such a huge collection! It had taken me years to gather it all! And it was gone, just like that. I still have some of it on disk, though, maybe.

Obviously, I took your advice. I emailed Dave and he took care of it. It is nice to be back.

Check this out! How cool is this?!

http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book...ing-god/6291677

Paperback book $14.99 Add to Cart (2155 kb)

Download: 1 documents, 2028 KB ($5 download)

Printed: 275 pages, 6" x 9", perfect binding, cream interior paper (60# weight), black and white interior ink, white exterior paper (100# weight), full-color exterior ink

Description:

Never before has a book so aggressively leveled the charge that a creator deity, if it was to exist, would be completely and unimaginably evil. Through the use of five very detailed categories, the case against the existence of a loving god is painstakingly -- and effectively -- made. Starting with the horrors we find abundant in nature and ending with the malicious fine scale engineering of all of time, the good Reverend takes you down a dark path that's rarely traveled, and for good reason. To admit to such is to undo a time honored and extremely financially rewarding tradition, religion.

* Proves that Jesus was far from a good moral example -- a sinner -- and that he was not the Messiah!

* Proves Jesus to be nothing more than a fictional pagan copycat!

* Proves Pascal's Wager to be a big joke through fiction (A Christian Goes to Islamic Hell) & critical analysis

* Proves that souls do not exist!

* Proves Noah's Ark to be impossible -- and quite hilarious!

Yes sir, my very first! Took me nearly two years to complete, too! It was done under considerable duress, though, as I have three kids and a wife who just don't appreciate me being on the computer! Add to that the fact that I have a full time manual labor job that tires me out and I'm surprised it didn't take five!

Book looks very intriguing and may just have to buy a copy. Good luck with it! I'm actually writing a book myself The Departure An Unexpected Journey in the Life of a Reluctant Agnostic to kind of sort things out myself.

Cool! How far along are you? For me it was a very long process! It was starting to feel like I would never finish! I stuck with it, though, and finally finished it up. I'm not quite done with it, though, as I plan on releasing a second edition later this year. I'd like to get a famous author to write a forword, but if that's going to cost me, well I think it can do without it! lol... I have very, very little, in the way of money, to pour into this thing. That's why I went with lulu.com. They don't charge you anything, but rather take their cut from every sale. It's much better that way, I think! It gives a poor man a way, where there formerly was none, to publish his work without selling his "soul" to a publisher.

I actually just started! I've gotten the foreward and general outline or chapters laid out and just need to get all the body of it. So, I'm in the very early stages LOL. Hey, give me a few tips on what to or not to do from your experience. Yea, I'll probably publish like how you mentioned, buddy of mine did that as well. Hey if we can help people to overcome the lies and corruption of the Xian faith and find some freedom and happiness in their life, it's worth it!

That was me (minus the foreword) February 15, 2007 -- the day after Valentine's, three days after Darwin's. That was when I first started the project after taking a full two weeks off from work soley for that purpose. I had to fight tooth and nail to get it, too, but I threatened to leave and they caved. I slaved over it for most of the vacation getting, I think 23 pages down. By the end, though, my van got reposessed (long story) and so I wasn't so happy and in no mood to write! I did, however, feel better when I came to find out that since I had filed for bankruptcy and never refiled with the car, the dealership now owned it and I owed nothing! That was $19,000 plus that I was free of! I literally jumped around the house! Anyway, the point is that you should take some time off to get it going. Trying to work on it in between working really fucks up your creativity, though, most of the time it's unavoidable. If you have kids then it just gets harder!

My other advice would be to say what a friend of mine told me on my blog. He only said two words, but they stuck with me during the entire time after. He said "Just write." In other words, don't worry about how it's turning out so much, just crank out those paragraphs. You can always go back and reshape or delete. This is a lot better than staring at a blank screen. Something is easier to work with than nothing. Just write!

I found the original post, right here at ex-c, where I introduced my essay on Malevolent Design. It's dated almost a year to the day from when I would begin to work on the book.

It was the immense popularity of this thread that made me realize what I had here!

When I first read this website (just a few hours before I realized I didn't believe in God) it took me a while to get the joke.

You might say that the concept of malevolent design opened my eyes to atheism. B)

I downloaded the book, hope you find some success with it!

Irreducible Grotesqueness! I love it! Yeah, that is an excellent word for much of what you see there. I feel sorry for those poor crabs. It's like straight out of a horror movie! The Guinea worm is equally grotesque and closer to home as those infect humans!

Yes, just like Intelligent Design is meant to be, Malevolent Design operates as an effective wedge between the believer and his/her god. By painting a creator as sadistic and evil, their god loses his edge and their religion becomes more akin to Satan worship. Voila! evolution becomes the moral alternative!

Thank you. I appreciate the support! :)

Hey, Rev. Glad to see you here and that you posted your book here. I haven't had the chance to get a copy of it though. :( I will eventually. :) I prefer a hard copy so I can read in bed. I don't have a laptop.

Yeah, nice to see you, too! It's nice to see my FSA people in here to support me! :)

Take your time. The second edition should be out in about a month, anyway. I wouldn't be hurt if you bought that one, instead.

On a related note: I just purchased business cards! They look just as dark and forboding as the book cover does! They have the black background with "Malevolent Design" in white with "The Death of a Loving God" in blood red. Oh, they're sweeeeeeet! I worked on it for like an hour this morning, tweaking it back and forth to get it just right! I can't wait to hand them out at work!

Bravo, congratulations and best wishes! When will your book be available in bound print? I'm adding it to my wish list (along with a note to donate to ex-c.net a.s.a.p!)

This site is a wonderful resource as well as a place of refuge. Am very grateful to the owner, admin, and everyone who works so hard here.

It's actually available in that format right now (http://www.lulu.com/content/5358731), but I'm currently revising it as I've found a whole lot of (small)mistakes (after I got my hard copy in the mail, of course) that I had missed in the first round of editing. The second edition will be be available shortly.

You can read the first 27 pages here, though, for free, to get a taste of what exactly I'm offering here:

I passed a ton of these out at work! I also dropped a few in interesting places at our local Wal-Mart. I figured that since I'm always finding the pro-religious tracts there, I might as well make my mark, too. I'll go ahead and leave some in the bathroom when I'm there again, as well.

I am currently agnostic but if I did believe in a God, I wouldn't think him benevolent. I'd imagine if there is a God, it would encompass Good AND Evil. Why does god have to be all loving? That's a religious idea. From a scientific viewpoint, if there was a "creator" I would imagine it didn't need "emotions."

I'm just reading the universe the way I see it. If there's a supernatural creator responsible for it all, the evidence points to extremely malevolent. This conclusion, at least for me, is unavoidable.

Which is why I'm pretty sure there's a reason there's no evidence for any god at all.
