Be Careful! Demons On The Loose!

But atheists are decieved by satan and his demons!!! Wendyshrug.gif They have 'tricked' us into not being depressed anymore. They have magically 'removed' the panic attacks, etc. so we think we're better off without god!! Wendytwitch.gif

The thing is... "the devil" is always telling the truth in their mythology. Remember the apple thing? God said "on that day" you will die. Devil says: "your eyes will be opened." Then the bible says their eyes were opened.

This is just more of that. If one wanted to believe wacky things it would make more sense to believe the bible was created as a test to see if you could see through it's bullshit by applying common sense, wisdom, and "actual" love, instead of the imaginary kind that would torment a sentient being forever for thinking the wrong things. Talk about totalitarian.

Jesus, so you have to live a horrible life to be a Christian? I don't see how that makes sense.....doesn't believing in God makes your life better not worse? And yes, I always wonder how come atheists never have symptoms of demon possession but only religious people? Wouldn't Devil attack them more since they have no "protection"? WTF?

It seems the real protection is not allowing negative belief systems into your life to begin with. Christians talk about a verse in the bible that talks about thinking only on good, pure things. Of course they twist even this to be judgmental. But if they actually followed what the verse says, they'd have to chuck the vast majority of the bible as the ravings of a "demon".

This is so true. For example i never had problems with health, but lately due to all this commercial and TV shows about illness I started thinking about it and all of a sudden I have many kinds of symptoms! It's crazy. It really is the best protection to think only good things and not to believe everything!

I solved that problem by getting a Roku (to watch TV on the internet but on an actual television.) There I can use Netflix streaming (which has no commercial interruptions and is subscription based) or I can watch HuluPlus which has commercials but you can go online into your settings and take an advertising quiz to direct the kinds of ads you see. I just get ads for cars and beauty products. I agree that all the commercials and shows about illness and drug commercials and such produces an attitude in people that we are all fundamentally sick. This is extremely mentally unhealthy IMO which is why I do not have cable and refuse to purchase it. I'm not allowing advertisers to brainwash me with their nonsense.

Margee, you've got it completely wrong! We have better lives as atheists because Satan just can't be bothered with us anymore — he knows he's won, and we're going to hell anyway! Therefore, he spends his time attacking those poor Christian saps, trying to discourage them into blaspheming the holy spirit.

Wait Margee, we were both completely wrong! It turns out that since we've rejected God, he's no longer testing us, or "refining us in the fire," as some Christians like to put it. After all, they say, you can't purify gold without making it super hot, right? Right?

Well, all I know is that either way, no supernatural beings are bothering me, so that seems like it's a good thing.

If you marketed it as Christian, you'd make a fortune! Heavy metal isn't the only thing you can Christianize and sell back to them.

You're right... you're absolutely right.

Am I the only one who wonders why the people most tormented by demons are the ones who believe in them? When I was a Christian teenager I used to have bad panic attacks and be unable to sleep, shaking, crying, just completely freaked out. My mom would be saying: "It's just an attack of the devil." I'm sorry JUST??? It wasn't an "attack of the devil", it was the crazy belief system. Later when I got out of it and started having fewer panic attacks and was sleeping through the night my mother decided I was now being "deceived" by the devil. So... I''m only "attacked" if I believe crazy shit like fundie Christianity? If that isn't the best motivation to deconvert, then i don't know what is.

Currently, according to my mother, the devil is "deceiving me". This deception includes feeling more peaceful, loving, and enjoying more of life. This deception includes the ability to go through life and do normal things and think and concentrate. This deception includes sleeping through the night.

It sounds like so much tinfoil hat nonsense to me. They get the experience they expect to get. All these people doing all these things that supposedly "let demons in", are living quiet, normal lives, while the people who seem to have "symptoms" of demons really have symptoms of manufactured mental illness. If it were as they say, then all these "evil" practices would produce all these bad emotions, but in the end, the only thing that produces the scary things is believing everything is scary. Wacky how that works.

Actually some Christians would say that satan is no longer interested in messing with ("fucking with") the unsaved since he already has them....that's why Xtians have some serious issues...I would know I was one of them

Yes, which is why, for self-preservation reasons, it makes more sense NOT to be a Christian. GONZ9729CustomImage1539775.gif

If "the devil" only fucks with Christians, then non-Christian is safer.

A loving deity would never put someone in hell simply for not wanting to be tormented. That would be like wanting your family member to be tortured by thugs and then torturing them when they got home just because they gave in to the thug and did what the thug wanted to preserve their life.

I believe that's called: "blaming the victim." zDuivel7.gif

I know right...I'm reading Trusting Doubt right now and the author has this story about a molestation victim being punished because of her actions. It's disgusting to think of a God punishing people because they didn't choose right...to be honest...not following Christ/God is much more peaceful...lol

I've got that book on my Kindle right now! I've been reading parts of it while reading other stuff. I'm working right now on a book about rational spirituality but I'm thinking seriously about writing one about hell because it's the biggest thing that emotionally torments people who have been abused by religion. (And I count myself in that group. Hell fucked me up when I was a teen.)

re: not following Christ/God is more peaceful. Yes. Agreed. Spirituality is "supposed" to give people hope. Not that it's "necessary" for every single person. But it's become more harmful than helpful to most.

I read a book called The Jesus Mysteries, once, which... while it could have been created with slighty better scholarship/footnotes, did show an intriguing premise that seems logical to me... the idea that Christianity was originally meant as a Jewish version of the pagan mystery cults. The idea behind these cults was that there were these myths/stories that were taught and believed in by the common people... (the outer mysteries). In general they were stories to help people at that level of understanding be decent people and have faith/hope in something. But the inner mysteries were something you were initiated into, it's where you learned what the stories "really meant".

Due to the political climate at the time, it's feasible that the inner and outer mysteries could have gotten split, causing only the outer mysteries to become the Christianity today. Since the inner mysteries have been lost, one can only guess, but given the verse about: "In Adam all are condemned, and in Christ all are made whole/redeemed"... From a literalist interpretation, that would mean universal salvation, IMO, but from the "inner mysteries" perspective, it might mean Adam and Christ are not "literal people" but symbolic of a spiritual journey... i.e. they are "you" and "me"... where... in "Adam" you discover your humanity and in "Christ" you discover your divinity.

That might have been a slightly saner form of Christianity. Too bad we didn't get to find out. I would have been interested to see how Christianity might have turned out if that became the main message instead of the weirdness/insanity of a literal blood sacrifice of a schizophrenic self-contradictory god.
