Ok Well, I like this Let's Go They're 5 miles high as the crow flies Leaving vapour trails against a blood red sky Moving in from the East towards the West With Balaclava helmets over their heads, yes But if you think that Jesus Christ is coming Honey you've got another thing coming If he ever finds out who's hi-jacked his name He'll cut out his heart and turn in his grave Islam is rising The Christians mobilising The world is on its elbows and knees It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds It's war, she cried It's war, she cried This is war Drop your possessions all you simple folk You'll fight them on the beaches in your underclothes You'll thank the good Lord for raising the Union Jack You'll watch the ships sail out of harbour And the bodies come floating back Watch the ships sail out of harbour And the bodies come floating back But if you think that Jesus Christ is coming Honey you've got another thing coming If he ever finds out who's hi-jacked his name He'll cut out his heart and turn in his grave Islam is rising The Christians mobilising The world is on its elbows and knees It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds "Get the gun, get the gun, get the gun" "Stay away from the gun, stay away from the gun" If the real Jesus Christ were to stand up today He'd be gunned down cold by the CIA Oh, the lights that now burn brightest behind stained glass Will cast the darkest shadows upon the human heart But God didn't build himself that throne God doesn't live in Israel or Rome God doesn't belong to the yankee dollar God doesn't plant the bombs for Hezbollah God doesn't even go to church And God won't send us down to Allah to burn God will remind us what we already know That the human race is about to reap what it's sown Islam is rising The Christians mobilising The world is on its elbows and knees It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds The world is on its elbows and knees It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds The world is on its elbows and knees It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds The world is on its elbows and knees It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds Armageddon days are here again Armageddon days are here again Armageddon days are here again Armageddon days are here and Marily Manson did do a cover version of 'Personal Jesus.' bdp
pandora
I love Tori Amos. Did you know she is a PK? (PK = preacher's kid) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, which makes her lyrics all the more insightful. Her songs were a great comfort to me when I was in the transition phase. She's mellowed out a bit and I don't like the new stuff as much, but her music is still beautiful in a twisted sort of way. LloydDobler
First one I love is 'Prayer' by Disturbed. It's so fitting of the realities of faith. The chorus just drips with mockery and I love it. It's as if to say 'cmon mother fucker is that the best you've got?' ala LT. Dan in Forrest Gump. Another dream that will never come true Just to compliment your sorrow Another life that I've taken from you A gift to add on to your pain and suffering Another truth you can never believe Has crippled you completely All the cries you're beginning to hear Trapped in your mind, and the sound is deafening Let me enlighten you This is the way I pray Living just isn't hard enough Burn me alive inside Living my life's not hard enough Take everything away Another nightmare about to come true Will manifest tomorrow Another love that I've taken from you Lost in time, on the edge of suffering Another taste of the evil I breed Will level you completely Bring to life everything that you fear Live in the dark, and the world is threatening Let me enlighten you This is the way I pray Living just isn't hard enough Burn me alive, inside Living my life's not hard enough Take everything away Then there's King's X, which used to be a christian band and still has christian members. They struggle with deconversion as evidenced by their lyrics still: 'Lies in the sand' There's a man, who says there is a light in the sky All my friends say he's telling a lie But he speaks with such passion, that I have to think about it. And his hands, well they tremble as he points it out But I can't see what it's all about And the voices of many are singing along it seems Is it all something new? And will I see it too? Or is this just continuing man? Throughout all history, claiming they all can see, but the evidence falters just short of my hand... And there are lies in the sand. There's a man, who says he was a satanic beast And the many were there at his feet And he scared all the people, 'cause he was just what we want. Is it all something new? And will I see it too? Or is this just continuing man? Throughout all history, claiming they all can see, but the evidence falters just short of my hand... And there are lies in the sand. There are things that will surely seem as they are not And I might not know all that I've got But the bluffing is easy, and I haven't seen your hand... That one makes me weep most of the time. I so badly wanted to believe.
Ophy
As for Tori, there's a song on her newest CD called "Marys of the Sea". The one of the best lines in it (talking about Chrisitanity) says, "Hey! You built a rock that's on sand". Her newest CD (The Beekeeper) is her best one in a LONG time... check it out. Plus, there are lots of juicy religion references. Mr. Neil
There's this one Black Sabbath song called "I Witness". Really a weird song that, had they not explicitly written an anti-religious verse, I would have no idea what it was about. I Witness Across the desert of the burning dark, A darkness which illuminates you,. There's a place you've always wanted to be, Whose pleasures always did escape you. It's always been so out of reach, Nothing so near ever felt so far. And now it's here within your grasp, A never ending burning says it all. As you drive into the darkness, In front the future, behind you history. Caught alone in the dark night, Do you think that's the way it's supposed to be? You don't believe your eyes, Cos all you see is lies. Oh yeah! You better run from the holy man. The eyes that will are set upon you. Listen not to verse and prayer, Songs that thrill and voices tempt you. The inner flame has fear of death, Never has light ever seemed so dark. Pilgrims of sabbocracy, Hear the hounds of Heaven as they bark! As you drive into the darkness, In front the future, behind you history. Caught alone in the dark night, Do you think that's the way it's supposed to be? You don't believe your eyes, Cos all you see is lies. I witness a time and a place that never dies, Still frozen in time. This darkness, the only place that I can hide, I witness a dream.
Merlinfmct87
Well, I think everyone here knows NIN cold, so I won't quote them. Did come across this little gem last night... It's by Dire Straits, song title is "Industrial Disease" off the "Love over Gold" album. Warning lights are flashing down at quality controlSomebody threw a spanner and they threw him in the hole There’s rumors in the loading bay and anger in the town Somebody blew the whistle and the walls came down There’s a meeting in the boardroom they’re trying to trace the smell There’s leaking in the washroom there’s a sneak in personnel Somewhere in the corridors someone was heard to sneeze ’goodness me could this be industrial disease? The caretaker was crucified for sleeping at his post They’re refusing to be pacified it’s him they blame the most The watchdog’s got rabies the foreman’s got fleas And everyone’s concerned about industrial disease There’s panic on the switchboard tongues are ties in knots Some come out in sympathy some come out in spots Some blame the management some the employees And everybody knows it’s the industrial disease The work force is disgusted downs tools and walks Innocence is injured experience just talks Everyone seeks damages and everyone agrees That these are ’classic symptoms of a monetary squeeze’ On itv and bbc they talk about the curse Philosophy is useless theology is worse History boils over there’s an economics freeze Sociologists invent words that mean ’industrial disease’ Doctor parkinson declared ’I’m not surprised to see you here You’ve got smokers cough from smoking, brewer’s droop from drinking beer I don’t know how you came to get the betty davis knees But worst of all young man you’ve got industrial disease’ He wrote me a prescription he said ’you are depressed But I’m glad you came to see me to get this off your chest Come back and see me later - next patient please Send in another victim of industrial disease’ I go down to speaker’s corner I’m thunderstruck They got free speech, tourists, police in trucks Two men say they’re jesus one of them must be wrong There’s a protest singer singing a protest song - he says ’they wanna have a war to keep us on our knees They wanna have a war to keep their factories They wanna have a war to stop us buying japanese They wanna have a war to stop industrial disease They’re pointing out the enemy to keep you deaf and blind They wanna sap your energy incarcerate your mind They give you rule brittania, gassy beer, page three Two weeks in espana and sunday striptease’ Meanwhile the first jesus says ’I’d cure it soon Abolish monday mornings and friday afternoons’ The other one’s on a hunger strike he’s dying by degrees How come jesus gets industrial disease Good satire... lots of double entendre's here. Guest Hida Bukkorosu
The Great Disappointment by AFI... my interpretation of the lyrics is they're about deconversion anyway... I can remember a place I used to goChrysanthemums of white, they seemed so beautiful I can remember, I searched for the amaranth I'd shut my eyes... to see Oh, how I smiled then, so near the cherished ones I knew they would appear... saw not a single one Oh, how I smiled then, waiting so patiently I'd make a wish... and bleed While I waited I was wasting away While I waited I was wasting away I can remember... dreamt them so vividly Soft creatures draped in white, light kisses gracing me I can remember when I first realized Dreams were the only place to see them While I waited I was wasting away While I waited I was wasting away While I waited I was wasting away Hope was wasting away Faith was wasting away I was wasting away I never, never wanted this I always wanted to believe I never, never wanted this How could I have become? I never, never wanted this But from the start I'd been deceived I never, never wanted this How could I have become? I never, never wanted this I always wanted to believe I never, never wanted this I never, never wanted this But from the start I'd been deceived I never, never wanted this Inside a crumbling effigy But you promised So dies all innocence But you promised me While I waited I was wasting away While I waited I was wasting away While I waited I was wasting away Hope was wasting away Faith was wasting away I was wasting away

It's actually about masturbating in church. Icicle, icicle where are you going? I have a hiding place when spring marches in will you keep watch for me I hear them calling gonna lay down gonna lay down greeting the monster in our Easter dresses Father says bow your head like the Good Book says well I think the Good Book is missing some pages gonna lay down and when my hand touches myself I can finally rest my head and when they say take from His body I think I'll take from mine instead getting off, getting off, while they're all downstairs singing prayers, sing away, he's in my pumpkin p.j's lay your book on my chest feel the word feel the word feel the word feel it I could have I should have I could have flown you know I could have I should have I didn't So? DeathWorship
"The Arrival Of Satan's Empire" by Dark Funeral The unholy war, when Satan's demons are smeared in blood. Feathers fall from angel wings, from the sky. Father Satan gather your legions, it is time to claim your throne. The arrival of your dominion, so long been gone. So gather now my legions, it is time to fight for our lord. Hail Satan, scream the masses, smeared in angel's blood. Lords of war, the wings of twelve, open all the gates. Fly high into the canopy; bring to me the head of god. Hell lord, unholy father. Your wish is my command. I will cut the liar throat; Christian blood will fall to the ground. Demon legions, fly through the gates. Into the darkened sky. Held up high, the spears of evil. As they run, through angels flesh. They scream out in pain, as they see their kingdom fall. Angel tears fall to the ground, as Satan again will reign. Lords of war, the wings of twelve, open all the gates. Fly high into the canopy; bring to me the head of god. Hell lord, unholy father. Your wish is my command. I will cut the liar throat; Christian blood will fall to the ground.

DeathWorship
this is a beautiful song, i believe everyone should listen to it.. Agalloch - "Kneel To The Cross" Give us our bread and bury our dead And kneel to the cross on the wall Whether burnt at the stake or drunk at the wake Just kneel to the cross on the wall We've original sin, but we might just get in If we beg to the cross on the wall It's rattle your sabre and love your neighbours But kneel to that cross on the wall. See the roof fall, hear the bells crash As flesh and bone turn to ash Tried to conquer the sun with a Christian frost The corpses' stench beneath the cross Give them gold and they'll save your soul And kneel to the cross on the wall Hail to the boss of the great unwashed And kneel to the cross on the wall They wail and weep, the march of the sheep As they go to the cross on the wall And it's ever so wrong to dare to be strong So kneel to the cross on the wall to hear it, go to www.theendrecords.com
Ophy
I hate to break the bad news, but Tori Amos' new album was about her returning to Christianity. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, not to nitpick, but the new album isn't about her returning to Christianity. It's somewhat an exploration of certain aspects of Chrisitanity (i.e. the Gnostic gospels). On the new album, the song "Marys of the Sea" is about the gospel of Mary Magdeline, a book purportedly edited out of the bible. Tori has never claimed to be a full-on athiest. She often references God and Jesus, not denying that she believes in their existance; rather denying their existance as Christianity portrays them. Holy Smoke, Holy Smoke, Plenty bad preachers for the Devil to stoke. Feed 'em in feet first, this is no joke. This is thirsty work making Holy Smoke. Yeah, Making Holy Smoke. Jimmy Reptile and all his friends Say they gonna be with you at the end Burning records, burning books, Holy soldiers, Nazi looks. Crocodile smiles just wait a while, Till the TV Queen gets her make up clean. I've lived in filth, I've lived in sin, And I still smell cleaner than the shit you're in. Holy Smoke, Holy Smoke, Plenty bad preachers for the Devil to stoke. Feed 'em in feet first, this is no joke. This is thirsty work making Holy Smoke. Holy Smoke, smells good. They ain't religious but they ain't no fools, When Noah built his Cadillac it was cool. Two by two they're still going down, And the satellite circus just left town. I think they're strange and when they're dead They can have a Lincoln for their bed. Friend of the President - trick of the tail. Now they ain't got a prayer - 100 years in jail! SpaceMonk
I think this one was written with christians in mind, just to piss off the ones causing trouble for the band, Manowar. The dedication in the album cover goes: ...for all the motherfuckin' bastards who have tried to stop us on our sacred ride. Fuck you all. Eat shit. Suffer and die slowly listening to our music... The Demon’s Whip – Manowar (Demon's growling in background) Black candles slowly burning, white fangs and flashing eyes. Hell’s wind and incantations, summon living fire. Darkest forces and your demons, black order, black king. The cult that serves the living, accept this offering. Black candles slowly burning, white fangs and flashing eyes. Hell’s wind and incantations, summon living fire. As the seven steps await, hear the great bell toll. With a dead mans bones conjure, the enemy of the soul! From the misery and sadness, of the molten seas of Hell, mystic love and mystic symbols in evil dreams there dwell. Darkest forces and your demons, black order, black king. The cult that serves the living, accept this offering. A deadly drink, a meal of hearts. Now sacrifice and die! In darkness and destruction, behold the evil eye …and the Demon’s whip! Armies of the God’s of Hell ride across the astral plain. Bearing curses of destruction, sworn beyond the grave. Children of the darkness, all born but to deceive, by the ancient code of evil grant not one reprieve. In the place where evil dwells death can live when all life dies. Wage eternal war on heaven. Immortal hate below the skies. Your scripture and your sermons are leaves borne on the wind. To heal the unrepentant one needs a greater sin. Night winds. Oblivion. See my dark desire. Come forth. Appear. He is living fire. Feel the Demon’s whip! (Demon's growling in background and backward voices snarling) Armies of the God’s of Hell ride across the astral plain. Guest Drumtodeath
Tool- Eulogy He had alot to say. He had alot of nothing to say. We'll miss him. So long. We wish you well. You told us how you weren't afraid to die. Well then, so long. Don't cry. Or feel too down. Not all martyrs see divinity. But at least you tried. Standing above the crowd, He had a voice that was strong and loud. We'll miss him. Ranting and pointing his finger At everything but his heart. We'll miss him. No way to recall What it was that you had said to me, Like I care at all. So loud. You sure could yell. You took a stand on every little thing And so loud. Standing above the crowd, He had a voice so strong and loud and I Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so Eager to identify with Someone above the ground, Someone who seemed to feel the same, Someone prepared to lead the way, with Someone who would die for me. Will you? Will you now? Would you die for me? Don't you fuckin lie. Don't you step out of line. Don't you fuckin lie. You've claimed all this time that you would die for me. Why then are you so surprised to hear your own eulogy? You had alot to say. You had alot of nothing to say. Come down. Get off your fuckin cross. We need the fuckin space to nail the next fool martyr. To ascend you must die. You must be crucified For your sins and your lies. Goodbye...
