Guest AscendoTuumDeus
Ehhh... Does 'The Rite of Spring' count. I listen to classics for the most part so that would be about as anti-christian as it gets (the original ballet had human sacrifice... it was about ancient pagan rituals; 'The "Rite" of Spring'). It was composed by Igor Stravinsky and the whole thing lasts nearly 35 minutes...
imageownershipproblem
FWIW, if anyone who isn't me was equally intrigued by Eulogy by Tool, here's a link not just to where you can download the MP3 for free (It's the first one I hope you see on the list; a bit over 7MB and well worth it even on 56K) but to how I find the vast majority of my MP3s: You're smart; you'll figure it out. I don't buy or steal music; I just have very eclectic tastes.

phoenix
tool opiate Choices always were a problem for you. What you need is someone strong to guide you. Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow, what you need is someone strong to guide you.. like me, like me, like me, like me If you want to get your soul to heaven, trust in me . Now don't you judge or question. You are broken now , but faith can heal you. Just do everything I tell you to do. Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow. What you need is someone strong to guide you. Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow. Let me lay my holy hand upon you. My Gods will becomes me. When he speaks out, he speaks through me. He has needs like I do. We both want to rape you. [x2] Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life now Open my eyes and blind me with your light If you want to get your soul to heaven, trust in me . Now don't you judge or question. Posted the lyrics up a couple posts, by the way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know. I'm an old fart and I'd never heard of Tool before. Your timing is ironically amazing, incidentally, since I needed that song so bad right now. I'm off to see if I can find "opiate" now that Phoenix has posted the lyrics. It's actually very unusual for a modern band to have a WHOLE 7MB song up there for free, much less two pages of downloadable files. Does Tool do a lot of anti-xtian songs? I've got three episodes of a BBC television programme queued up right now (I'm on dial-up but I'm very patient; it only takes me a week and a half to get a full KDE distro) but I'm thinking about grabbing everything Tool feels like giving me as soon as those are done. You rock, Drumtodeath.

Yeah, the albums in order of release are as followed: Opiate, Undertow, Aenema, Salival, and Lateralus, plus the new album is due soon.

I can't afford to buy CDs, but I LOVE garage bands and who knows whether a fourteen year old kid with a home recording studio who covers one of those songs today will grow up to be somebody HUGE ten years from now and I can say, "Well, I knew him way back when and I always knew he'd amount to something no matter what his stupid fundy father said!" Lunar Shadow
Ill-Niño "God save us" God save us! This new life has brought us this new knife It's worthless and mindless to preach. I resist that! God save us! This new life has brought us this new knife It's worthless and mindless to preach. I resist that! I am what you despise I am just a disgrace you will never embrace The strength will rise Everything that I do burns against you These words are just a speck In what you call my life's wreck Mistakes forsake and every word will break This is hard to believe, I am not what you see All the pressure is breaking down on me I will take what is mine and won't waste any time Don't believe in what you want for me God save us! El control has brought us El color de sangre y hambre, it's our turn We will burn!! Liar! This life is mine My intentions are real, this is my killing field I will not shine Our souls turn to rust, turn our bodies to dust My life is just a trek In what you call my last breath Mistakes forsake, then every word will break This is hard to believe, I am not what you see All the pressure is breaking down on me I will take what is mine and won't waste any time Don't believe in what you want for me This is hard to believe All the pressure is breaking down on me I will take what is mine Don't believe in what you want for me God save our souls, yeah God save us! This new life has brought us this new knife Tu control, tu color, it's our turn, we will burn!! I am what you despise How can I be oppressed and then confess? The strength will rise Everything that I do burns against you These words are just a speck In what you call my life's wreck Mistakes forsake, then every word will... BREAK!!!! God save us! This new life has brought us this new knife!!
Purple
The only one I'm thinking of off the top of my head is Marilyn Manson's "The Fight Song" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No I LOVE that song, it's a guilty pleasure for me. Why guilty? Cuz I'm like 40, and Manson seems a little immature for me, but it's not just the words with that one it is the cheer, rant feel of it. Eventually I may add my "testimony" (Cringes at the sound of the word) but, for now suffice it to say they screwed me so bad on the way out, it's 4 years past now and certain things still make me cringe, or want to yell FIGHT! I cannot think of names right now, but Jethro Tull did some very nice questioning religion songs as well.
Purple
Ya just got to love google Two of the songs I was thinking of. My God lyrics Artist - Jethro Tull Album - Aqualung Lyrics - My God People -- what have you done -- locked Him in His golden cage. Made Him bend to your religion -- Him resurrected from the grave. He is the god of nothing -- if that's all that you can see. You are the god of everything -- He's inside you and me. So lean upon Him gently and don't call on Him to save you from your social graces and the sins you used to waive. The bloody Church of England -- in chains of history -- requests your earthly presence at the vicarage for tea. And the graven image you-know-who -- with His plastic crucifix -- he's got him fixed -- confuses me as to who and where and why -- as to how he gets his kicks. Confessing to the endless sin -- the endless whining sounds. You'll be praying till next Thursday to all the gods that you can count. Hymn 43 Jethro Tull (Aqualung) Oh father high in heaven -- smile down upon your son whose busy with his money games -- his women and his gun. Oh Jesus save me! And the unsung Western hero killed an Indian or three and made his name in Hollywood to set the white man free. Oh Jesus save me! If Jesus saves -- well, He'd better save Himself from the gory glory seekers who use His name in death. Oh Jesus save me! I saw him in the city and on the mountains of the moon -- His cross was rather bloody -- He could hardly roll His stone. Oh Jesus save me!

Cynical Realist
Well. I'm not a huge metal fan anymore but when I get in a bad mood or had a bad day I'll throw on some Slayer to soothe my soul. Interesting that I found this thread because I'm listening to God Hates Us All by Slayer at the moment. This album is a thing of beauty. My all time fave lyric by Slayer is from the song "New Faith" "I keep the bible in a pool of blood So that none of its lies can affect me" I laughed the first time I heard it but the more I listened the more it made some kind of sense in a symbolic way. As far as anti christian songs take a look at the Black Metal genre, it's a buffet of hatred of God and Christianity. I'll also give props to someone who listed the perfect circle song Judith. Guest samurai_cowboy
Nobody's mentioned Rush yet? 'Freewill' Words by Neil Peart There are those who think that life Has nothing left to chance With a host of holy horrors To direct our aimless dance A planet of playthings We dance on the strings Of powers we cannot perceive "the stars aren't aligned --- Or the gods are malign" Blame is better to give than receive You can choose a ready guide In some celestial voice If you choose not to decide You still have made a choice You can choose from phantom fears And kindness that can kill I will choose a path that's clear I will choose free will There are those who think that they've been dealt a losing hand The cards were stacked against them --- They weren't born in lotus-land All preordained A prisoner in chains A victim of venomous fate Kicked in the face You can't pray for a place In heaven's unearthly estate Each of us A cell of awareness Imperfect and incomplete Genetic blends With uncertain ends On a fortune hunt That's far too fleet... 'Roll the Bones' Words by Neil Peart Well, you can stake that claim -- Good work is the key to good fortune Winners take that praise Losers seldom take that blame If they don't take that game And sometimes the winner takes nothing We draw our own designs But fortune has to make that frame We go out in the world and take our chances Fate is just the weight of circumstances That's the way that lady luck dances Roll the bones Why are we here? Because we're here Roll the bones Why does it happen? Because it happens Roll the bones Faith is cold as ice -- Why are little ones born only to suffer For the want of immunity Or a bowl of rice? Well, who would hold a price On the heads of the innocent children If there's some immortal power To control the dice? We come into the world and take our chances Fate is just the weight of circumstances That's the way that lady luck dances Roll the bones Jack -- relax. Get busy with the facts. No zodiacs or almanacs, No maniacs in polyester slacks. Just the facts. Gonna kick some gluteus max. It's a parallax -- you dig? You move around The small gets big. it's a rig. It's action -- reaction -- Random interaction. So who's afraid Of a little abstraction? Can't get no satisfaction From the facts? You better run, homeboy -- A fact's a fact From nome to rome, boy. What's the deal? spin the wheel. If the dice are hot -- take a shot. Play your cards. show us what you got -- What you're holding. If the cards are cold, Don't go folding. Lady luck is golden; She favors the bold. that's cold. Stop throwing stones -- The night has a thousand saxophones. So get out there and rock, And roll the bones. Get busy! I've listened to Free Will since Permenant Waves came out 20 some years ago and it never really hit me until I just read the lyrics again. Wow. Time to dig out the Rush cd's a for a few hours.
