That is so true, do we really need to invoke God to love & care for one another. There's a planet full of people, and other species all around us 24/7 but we've got to know God first before we're moved, no wonder so many thing's are fucked up.

I didn't realize how much the us vs them mindset was instilled in me, starting in my very own family, until I realized everything I had built my life on, and my whole perspective, was a farce. I remember driving through my neighbourhood one day and thinking wow, I can talk to all my neighbours without censoring what I say (because I always feared it would lead to questions about my lifestyle). That is how deep the indoctrination went with me, I always felt like I was an other and had to be careful, even with those in my family who were no longer part of the church.

As long as such fundamentalist churches exist, I can concur with the 'no wonder so many things are fucked up' statement. Fundamentalists don't truly live in this world like other people do, they view themselves as strangers in it, or chosen ones, on the way to a better place.

Did Jimmy leave shortly after he created this thread, was he wanting to relate to us by debunking the LDS church? Hoping that we'd just join in and not notice his own beliefs.

I thought Jimmy was cool, what I liked about him was that he didn't try to pretend he had any evidence, he was more a new ager type than fundamental Christian.

I thought he was cool too.  But nobody told him to leave.  Jimmy said early on that he wasn't going to stay.

Wow, just wow.  How long did that take.  Y'all ran Jimmy4 off in record time.  I'm so ashamed.  We need kinder friendlier atheists...

Yes, kind, friendly people of all sorts is a good thing, but this forum is called the Lion's Den for a reason, which implies verbal attacks upon Christians promoting their doctrine since this is the designated place for such discussions -- so a little bit of funning should be expected, right?

As for religions, I enjoy making fun of them and for what I believe to be the naiveté and/or stupidity of their followers, and this is the only place I feel comfortable doing it :)

Haha you guys miss me already? I’m just in the midst of writing Acts 2.0 and Proverbs 2.0.

The thing about my view is I know Christianity worked for me once upon a time, and I know it does not now.

I know Proverbs works as a guide to life, but you have to have a mindset that you’re working to get to Heaven at all costs and keep a loving heart to God.

So you ask, do you need God to love your neighbor? I don’t know for you, but for me, I do, or I lose my motivation.

I guess it goes back to the old saying that I’d rather be played for a fool in this lifetime than to be treated like a fool in the next or however it goes lol

Welcome back Jimmy.  I think the Bible needs a new New Covenant so knock yourself out.

Well I’m pretty sure I’ve been to Hell and am a reincarnation, because my Proverbs 2.0 is about escaping Hell and avoiding Satan.

I don’t know, I don’t wanna go back though. I think of like Starcraft stuff lol

I’d be happy to start a new thread in the Lion’s Den and post short bits on it each day, so you guys can clown on me.

I know the education is strong enough to humble the hardest hearts and bring reason to find love for the Lord their God:)

Nah, you should save your scriptures and only share them with your most devout and trusted followers.  We need to work on your shepherding skills.  Keep the best stuff as a secret and make your followers think they have to earn the privilege to see the really deep stuff.  String them along as much as you can.

You know that right now little children are crying out to your God for food, and they will not receive. You can't just sit back and expect to get a hand out Jimmy, that's basically what you're saying.

The hell we do. We need more people, whatever their deluded beliefs might be, who at least don't think it's their mission to "enlighten" anyone.

We need people to keep their bat-shit-crazy fairy tales to themselves if they're not going to join the rest of us in the real world.

EDIT: The above quote was mentioned by LF. It was posted, hilariously, by end3.

Damn LBs back! How’s it going man? Been awhile.

You can't use your own strength, it takes the power of God's spirit to open your eye's, to soften your hard heart, to reveal his presence, to heal your dead soul, ect ect

Remember the 99 sheep God left to find that one lost sheep, he traveled wide and far until he found the sheep. He carried it all the way back to the flock on his shoulder's only to find when he returned that the other 99 sheep were all dead.

See how important you are to him.

Lol.

Actually a good point. No decent shepherd would leave a flock is sheep unattended to save one. That story is moronic. Makes you feel good though cause we all poor lil wee lost lambs.

Why can't Jimmy see what's going on in his head, has he gone totally bonkers that he believes he's the one. He's writing what? New scripture? I hope I don't see Jimmy on the news because he started a new cult following.

Jimmy,

Could you please answer a question? Why is it that archeological finds are not supporting the bible’s Version of events? If God is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere. Why is his story so different from verifiable finds. We learn so much about ancient cultures through archeology and the more we find the more it says the Bible is a book of lies rather than a book of truth.

Hi Jim:

Back on page 2 of this thread I posted some links to some photos. You didn't look at those photos, so here are the links again:

( https://pro.magnumphotos.com/image/NYC6985.html,  https://pro.magnumphotos.com/image/NYC6978.html,  https://www.medicalvirals.info/article/1724)

Be sure to click on the images in the first two so you can see them enlarged. The little images that first come up don't do them justice.

How about explaining why an allegedly loving god who allegedly can do anything he wants would cause this (or allow this) to happen?

Jimmy,

It says in the Bible that "In the beginning was the word, and the word became flesh".  It also says that God is the same yesterday, today and forever.  If the Bible is the "Word of God", and you have a god that says what it says in Psalms 137:9, regardless of it being NT or OT, which means, God can change his mind on being compassionate or a mean bastard, they why follow him?  If you see the same actions in a human being today, that would be considered psychopathic, sociopathic, and with all that has been done according to the Bible, worthy of prison, and in many states in the US, the death penalty.  WHY....WHY do you folllow such a psychopathic being?

Well you gotta remember, the Bible is written by man, and there’s certain thrills in life such as killing a person I believe to be one from watching movies tbh. Well also assuming from PTSD and various obvious reasons.

But that’s why it deserves the death penalty. Child molesters deserve the death penalty, they have an addiction to murdering the souls of innocent children.

Certain deeds will ruin people for life which is why soldiers stay soldiers, and it’s better for some to go straight to God such as adulterers and murderers. Everyone’s heard once a cheater, always a cheater.

David was far from perfect, but everyone already knows that. I think Christianity had something to do with King Solomon’s prayer to God speaking of David’s family.

@JimmyfoJesus Do you have a mental illness? One thing I know about about that disorder is that a lot of schizophrenic people gravitate towards religion, porn and drugs. They use those thing's as a crutch to deal with their hyper mental conditions.

If you do have a mental illness & you are psychotic then you've got to go to the hospital ASAP, because you'll degrade mentally inside month and not be able to function or make any coherent sense. But if you are not aware of any mental issues, go get checked out anyway, because reading what you just said sounds psychotic.

Played for a fool is about the same as considered a fool, right?

Not a bad saying if there were a next life, heaven, hell, reincarnation etc.

But if there really weren't any afterlives and the bible is just a fantasy,  then the believer not only would be considered a fool by folks like us, but he really would be a misguided fool in that respect, right?
