Super Moderator buffettphan Posted April 21, 2015 Super Moderator Share Posted April 21, 2015 The other day there was a major Comcast outage in my area. No internet. No tv. Not even a landline which is almost useless anyhow. It was a boring time. . (Fortunately I had a party to go to during the outage, so I only suffered from withdrawal symptoms for a couple of hours. )

yunea
My washing machine has gone crazy. I selected a short program, it appears to be running the longest program possible, as any other ones would have ended a long time ago by now. Sometimes when I select a long program, it goes straight into the final rinsing part, and I have to choose a new program altogether once it's over. At least it seems to get the temperatures right, so it's not actually ruining my clothes, but the laundry I'm washing right now wasn't so dirty as to need the longest program. I watch my washing machine more than I watch my TV, and it's not even a front-loading washing machine, but a top-loading one. In fact my TV's antenna cable is not even plugged in. It's only used as a big fancy computer monitor. So much of TV is rubbish that it's not worth it trying to see the little that isn't. I rather buy the non-rubbish stuff on DVD or watch it online. ContraBardus
Spent too much money on movies this month. Not broke or anything, but it's more than I'll watch before I get paid again. I don't care about extras and such so I bought a bunch of the multi-feature sets for some movies I've been meaning to get for a while now. I can't believe I didn't already have Evil Dead 2 or Army of Darkness on Blu ray. I thought I did, but sure enough I checked to be sure and I didn't. Also got, Leon The Professional, Mad Max, The Road Warrior, Terminator, T2, T3/Eraser/Collateral Damage, Robocop 1-3 [80s], Akira 25th aniv, Harold and Kumar trilogy/Beerfest, V For Vendetta/Watchmen/Constantine, Dark Shadows/Sleepy Hollow, Sin City, Conan the Barbarian [80s], Conan the Destroyer, Losers/Rock n'Rolla/Shoot 'em up, Waiting, Office Space, Punisher/Punisher War Zone, Ghost in the Shell 25th, and Cowboy Beebop the complete series. That didn't come out nearly as expensive as it sounds. A few of the films listed I only got because they came packed in with other films I wanted. I also have a mess of movies cached up to pick up a few at a time over the next several months. I won't be grabbing as many at once again, but a few here and there as I go to round out some stuff I've been meaning to buy or upgrade to high def. I have a 47" screen, so I notice the quality difference between Blu-ray and DVD. Certain movies it's worth upgrading for the right price, others not so much. Comedies usually aren't worth the effort, but stuff with great cinematography pretty much universally benefits from HD.

ContraBardus
I like shots. How about these kinds of shots? I'm vaccinated. I wouldn't say I like them, but I don't have any problem with getting one if I need it. Needles don't bother me one bit, not even the big mean looking ones. I was even on a type of blood thinner that I had to inject into my abdomen myself for a little while. I have blood taken all the time because of my health issues, and those needles are much nastier than any shot.
Guest Furball
Sorry to hear that. What kind of medical issues do you have? You don't have to say if you don't want to.
ContraBardus
Sorry to hear that. What kind of medical issues do you have? You don't have to say if you don't want to. I had a congenital heart issue. Surgery fixed it up, but my heart is still pretty weak from the ordeal. I also have Hypertension in my lungs because of it. I get to take twice the dose of Adcirca [Cialis] that people with penis problems have to take. It's actually a lung medication that is sold to treat ED because of one of the side effects. They were originally going to do a heart and lung transplant, but I got well enough waiting for it that they were able to fix me up. I died a couple of times during all of this actually. Once during a surgery and once when they tried to put me on a medication my system didn't like in my hospital room.
Guest Furball
I don't know what to say but i am truly sorry. What you went through sounds very frightening. I hope all is better now, and you don't have to go through any of that ordeal ever again.

It was like I fell asleep and didn't dream. I wasn't aware of anything until I was revived and woke up.

ContraBardus
Sitting at home drinking Shock Top Shandy, gonna watch the unrated version of Robocop on Blu-ray. The 80s version of the film, not the new one. It's the same cut as the Criterion version, but cleaned up and with much better sound remastering. I'm starting to like Shock Top beer. They've got a few different flavors I've liked. I've always liked Shandy, but theirs is decent, and their Raspberry Wheat is surprisingly good. Might try some of their IPA later and they have a Belgian White as well that I'll give a shot.
