You may be a little short for a stormtrooper ( Leia quote :HaHa: ), but you stand pretty tall as a member of ExC.

I really do like how this thread is progressing.

You don't NEED bibles in their languages! THAT'S WHY YOU HAVE THE GIFT OF TONGUES! Has not the "Lord" given you all that you require?

Tongues have ceased (although there are whackos who claim to speak in tongues):

13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

“You shouldn't test God” is the common lame excuse for not doing any of the other guarantees:

16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

I'm always entertained by christians who are willing and eager to DEMAND and THREATEN WITH HELL that non-christians obey their bible (supress natural sex drive, dignified death, etc), but as soon as a non-christian makes a similar demand of christians (evangelism to the world, not hard is it?), all the defenses come up, and all the excuses come out (Oh, god hasn't called me yet, oh, we just have to "live the christian life" and that's good enough, etc). And these christians just can't see the hypocracy of it all.

TK is so right with this thread.

Considering Xtians follow blind faith, its not hard for them to try to prove their point. The

Bible speaks of "follow the bible brick road, don't question, take our word for it". :twitch:

When the bible wrighters speak of such things as, "God wont show himself to you unless

you believe in him 100%, dont believe us? just look.........*pause*........see he wont show himself to you". Its all bullshit. Xtians, Seriously look at the world and yourself, ask yourself if their is a god. If you did and still believe their is a god, well then you are mentally lost, in denial, insecure, possibly stupid, and other things that any language doesn't have words for. Thats what I have to say. My really good friend recently commited suicide. If you think that hes in Hell burning because he couldn't take the worlds bullshit anymore. Im sorry yall but I really have to get this out. IM TIRED OF XTIANITY HURTING PEOPLE! I hate XTIANS! ITS YOUR FAITH THAT FUCKS PEOPLES HEADS UP SO BAD! THE WORLD IS BAD ENOUGH, YOU MAKE IT WORSE! Ihate Xtianity because its followers are so ignorant, and cant see the fucking truth. ive said enough

This sounds too familiar. It sounds exactly like that segment by Carl Sagan in The Demon Haunted World when he's talking about the dragon in his garage. :HaHa:

That's it?  That's your reply?  You admit that YOU have failed, yet you continue to sit here lamenting the failure of "Christianity"?
It was not a reply. It was a confirmation of your observation. I think you are correct, that dominant western Christianity says one thing but does another.

Um...I hate to break the news to you, Jay, but, um...THEIR failure is also YOUR failure.
Well, I am not claiming to be without failure, but I do not subscribe to much of what is dogma in dominant western Christianity.

So...what do YOU plan to do about it?  Take me up on my challenge, or confess that you don't believe in Jesus any more than WE do?
Well, in response to your original post, let me make a few comments:

1. The "world" is not necesarily a foreign country. While it is true that the United States is dripping with a certain type of commercialistic Christianity, there are not very many people here living as Christ instructed. (For example, Jesus was not a political activist, nor did he ever once encourage such things. In fact, I am unaware of anything in the Bible that instructs believers to attempt societal change.) kosmos, as used in the Bible in passages like this, simply means those who are not saved, as contrasted with those who are.

2. You and I have a different understanding of the Great Commission at its fundamental core, so it is unlikely that any useful dilogue could come out of what is likely to be nothing more than a pissing contest.

3. I do not pretend to suffer, nor do I know anyone who does. I am happy I live in a country where I can freely exercise my religion. Personally, I take a "sticks and stones" approach to much of what is said, and I am astonished daily that many people, whether Christian, gay, Democrat, Republican, or whatever spend so much of their time being offended by other people. It seems that it everyone would be better off if we could find a better use of our time.

4. I do not believe that God decides when it is time for people to die.

5. I have not come here to preach righteousness, nor have I ever done so.

6. I guess I didn't really give you a full response because I do not accept the premises your commentary is based upon.

I MAY be sarcastic, but it's still a legitimate question/complaint.
I think it is a legitimate complaint of those who believe the tenets you proposed. It would be difficult for me to adequately defend a position I do not subscribe to.

TAP, D_C, Jay, and Aaryn, I'm not trying to get people to go on a suicide mission.  I'm TRYING to point out the ludicrousness of the Xian Hypocrite's position.

To the hypocrite I shout, "Don't you DARE preach to ME, what YOU aren't willing to do!"

Well, I do not believe that I have ever preached to you, nor to anyone else here.

What a bunch of bullshhhhiiitttttttt staining the carpet here in Dave's House.

I fuckin' near lost my citizenship, was all but denied re-entry back into uS, was charged with "taking up arms in a time of combat against uS interests", and a host of other crimes against the State.

My deal? I went with a Catholic Relief Mission as a freshly minted EMT and metal fabricator into a zone where a civil war was brewing with the Proctors of the State, armed and advised by uS troops, and the bad guys were a buncha shitheeled good for nothing, brown savages, all whom wanted their jungle and way of life left alone.

Ya know, the year and change I was there, I was too busy learning how to keep people a-fucking-live to bother to be a religious witness.

I was too busy learning to run in a jungle where this big ole moose of a boy had NO business being in..

Got an education in persuasion and permission, attachment to the Holy Roman church, and the uselessness of the *evangelical xtians" who ejected out at a moments scare..

I watched as the catholic "father" who was the heart of the malcontents get his ass blown away by his executions. The protestants loved that he was gone, and it *made their jobs easier*.

Seen too the proddies, withold food, medical supplies, clothing and notions, giving them instead to their *new converts*...

To say I've seen the worst in the xtian faith fucking over the persons they were supposed to be helping is an understatement.

Gladly taught my little indian friends what I knew of the modern combat rifle and how to use those taken as spoils.

All the time remembering how much *good* religion was doing these folks, whose greatest desire in life was to smoke, eat, get laid, be left alone by everyone.

Yeah, I'd laff my ass off at *xtian soldiers* trying to convert me.. Free Ballistics Party invite for every participant..

Religion Kills

<<< as a brutish bunch of mercs bash through Fwee's office door, he stares in astonishment at their uniforms that have a golden "N" on each shoulder. They grab him by the hair of his head and drag him, kicking and screaming, into the woods outside.>>>

The night falls silent.

I'm game if you are!  I've already edited it for Xian content.  (Made myself sound like a raving Fundie.  Quite scary actually.  Shudder!)  I'd just like some of you to proofread it for content and believability.

The REAL trouble is doing this without the lurkers...DAMN!  They've already seen THIS post!  Someone is bound to blow the whistle on us.

Oh well.  I'm still willing to go along with the gag.  Let me know, children!

Uh, oh. Looks like I started something. I just got up and am going to read through the thread now. I'll help out in any way though, this sounds like fun.

Wouldn't that suck If there are Christian Forums out their sending their followers to this site to try to convert us. I wouldn't be surprised if thats were some of them came from. Do yall think we should go to christians sites and Speak the truth, like with this Thread. Or would that make us no better than them.

Personally I would just do it to make them face up to their own lack of belief. It would be funny to watch them squirm. I'm always game for a good practical joke.

They are disobeying god by preaching to unbelievers at ALL in this country.  We have all HEARD it.  I challenge a christian to find me 10 people anywhere in the USA who have never heard the gospel.  Go on...give me ten names and phone numbers...I want to talk to them.

Hell, show me one and I'll be satisfied. Who hasn't at least seen the John 3:16 guy at football games and public events?

Lukewarm Christians and Hypocrisy are synonymous.

You seem to think that in order to preach the "Good news" it is necessary to go into other countries.  I would suggest that America is in just as much need of evangelism as other countries.  It IS possible to be a witness in your home country.

Jesus himself hated hypocrites.  Witness the whole Jesus-and-the-tax-collectors-in-the-temple story.

That's a cop out and you know it.

I swear, Mythra, TK, and thankful truly are gems!

But I really am seriously thinking of making all kinds of T-shirts with these goodies on the front and back. I'm getting great ideas from this Forum! hehe.

The point is just that.  COMMANDS AND ASKING are two different things.  A command implies that that person/being MUST do the command, a request is just that: a simple question that is not always answered to the questioner's satisfaction.

I know, I know. His answers are always yes, no, and wait a while. Then why is it when he is asked to help a christian perform Mark 16 the answer is always no?

I don't care what the 12 apostles did. That's just what some book says and it can't be verified. What about here and now? What about with you? What about with someone you know? Were you able to verify it?

Where I live, (small town Montana) there must be 10 times as many churches here as there are gas stations.

Ah, another western boy. I'm from Idaho and families from both my mom and dad are from Montana. What small town if you don't mind me asking? I know some members of my family are (maybe were) preachers.

To be frank with you i do not KNOW what will happen to those who havent at least heard the gospel.  It is because we KNOW that they will not be saved that missionaries work as frantically as they do.

However, it is those who have heard the Truth and reject it that will receive the FULL cup of God's wrath.

Then why are, as you imply, so few "called" overseas while the rest are free to sit on their buts in air conditioned homes and leave church early to go watch the Superbowl? I believe TK laid it out very well. You are all called. Zoe went further and pointed out that if we hear the message and don't respond, shake the dust off your shoes and move on. Show me one who has not heard the gospel in America. Just one. Then tell me why only one out of 1000, or is it 10,000 christians are called into the rest of the world to share the gospel. The US is roughly 270M in size and the rest of the world is closing in on 7B. Do the math.

I think the truth is that you and most christians don't really believe. They believe only when it's comfortable, but when a real sacrifice is called for hardly one will stand up to the challenge.

In fact, those who do make such a sacrifice are considered a little nutty by mainstream christians. I once had a friend when I was a christian who sold everything and was living in the back of his $500 Toyota pick up with a tiny camper shell on the back. He spent every day handing out tracts with the basic gospel message that most churches accept. My roommates and I let him park his truck in our driveway for over a year so I knew him pretty well. He had been shunned by every church in town because he would go and tell members that god demanded all believers to pick up their cross and make a real sacrifice. He was intelligent, well behaved, and only doing what the bible told him to and everyone considered him a radical. Now why is that?
